Porting tfs 205s
#84
So it's been a while since I last updated, I just got my car back from getting the trans rebuilt, and decided to have my rearend beefed up while I had it out of the car. I recently talked with Chris Frank, he told me I'd have about a 6-8 week turn around either hand porting or cnc porting. In a couple weeks I'll be sending the heads to him to be cnc'd. Hopefully I'll have the heads back by the end of June and I can get everything in the car.

Thanks for the update; been wondering what's been going on with the build. Frankenstein's work will be well worth the wait. Make sure to post up some pictures of the port work.

Yea had some set backs when I pulled the trans and rearend. Ended up doing way more than I originally planned in my trans and built my rearend. But hopefully I can get back on track with the motor.

Curious to know what he's charging you. I remember the quote I got for his TFS heads...
I take it you're supplying the castings, or using his porter's sets that he uses?
PM me if needed

Thanks for the link studderin. I'm not in the need of heads, but am curious what they cost. That's pretty damn impressive making over 600 rwhp on a 402 with those heads.

3100 is a steal. a head with a port, vj and chamber anyone can get from a top cly head guy that hasn't been changed like happens when you go to a production run. Changing the tooling that will get a few more sets done, and what you can run at more speed and feed rate to save time for the hourly guy that pulls handles, pushes buttons and babysits machines. And had sales and owners look at the profit and pump that up as much as they can, and get away with. Thats were a badass head form a cly head guy that dose what he wants, casting to finish you get. And knows all his work is dialed, makes 600whp. And a head from a shop with 5 different people working on a set makes 550, and the super cheap "budget/valve" stuff you see 10-30whp difference between the same PN that doesn't get the attention to detail in the program, and finish and human work from skilled guy(s) along the way,

Plus, been having some good discussions with folks, and I really think this is the direction I'm going to go. I can always punch thewm out bigger as well, which is nice.
OP, can't wait to see the pics and the results. Chris is top notch, no doubt.
