What kind of 5.3 heads are you running. I run PRC stage 2.5/5.3 heads on my 370 LQ9 with a cam quite a bit bigger than yours, and it's none to big IMO. Mine is 612/612 lift, 236/244 duration, 113+4 LSA. I'd go bigger than that on your 408

The heads are from a speed shop up here in MN that blows engines up, including one of mine, so I'd rather not say. They are epoxied and port matched to my FAST 90. They made 485RWHP on my 346 so I just reused the same combo on my 408 to save costs.

I know there is more left on the table.

You should be able to add at least another 10-12 degrees of timing to both the intake and exhaust with an engine that big. Call several of the cam guys for suggestions. Goeff @ EPS, Martin @ Tick, Brian Tooley, Texas Speed, Ed Curtis, will all get you more power.

Gotcha! So you only gained about 15 hp on the 408 with the same top end that you had on the LS1 before? Same dyno as well?

Different dyno but same kind. +15 peak RWHP almost + 100 RWTQ and on the street it is way more SOTP and unfortunately way more tire spin. There is also way more power under the curve.

Could always buy a air force surplus jet engine and strap that onto the hood.
