Default 408 cam ?

I need some advice from the cam gurus on here.I recently purchased a high compression 408 with forged internals ,diamond +13 dome pistons ,cam with unknown specs other than a part number from a place called custom cams inc. I know a custom grind would be best but I just have to ask.
Heres my question I have a 243/251 623/623 on a 112 laying around, how would this cam perform in this engine ?my setup is a different than most on here since it in a truck. thanks in advance

my setup is
408, ls3 heads milled .030,lts
holley hi ram with 92mm tb
lvl 6 flt 4l60e
4100 triple disc stall
4.30 gears
4300# weight

That's alotta compression, what sorta fuel you running?

Cam sounds like a good one for a stroker, although many like to run a little wider split on stock LS3 heads.

There is no need to run a wider split on LS3 heads. That is seemingly a myth. Spin Monster has a very popular camshaft for the LS3 vettes and it has no split.

You dont need to go that big to make good power. The lower rpms will suffer somewhat.
I havent looked at those lobes, but lobe design is key over just using a big cam. If you want to run something different, we can set you up. Otherwise run that one.

With the Holley Hi ram having a shorter intake runner length than a factory manifold as well as a different plenum design it really deserves a different camshaft.

Especially with as much compression as you have.

I would also recommend a wider split.

I dont think they are much diff from most single planes out there as far as runner length...the "mid rise" is.

5" for a Victor Junior/Super Victor.

7" for a Hi-Ram.

10" for a stock intake give or take a few tenths.

It's enough to make a large difference in power band and where that power band starts/stops.

I was more so referring to the fact that his cam looks like it was designed for a stock style intake manifold and that the amount of compression he has really deserves a shot at a custom grind to be 100% optimal.

Every setup could benefit from a custom grind. But he has a decent cam. That other cam the op just posted looks a little better and follows alot of "torquer" cam styles from alot of companies.
I would run the first one. That second one will likely take alot better spring set than you may have room in the budget for.

I thought it looked familiar. They like those intake lobes. You will likely see the same results with either cam. That futral may act a bit better on the street and may possibly make a bit more power.

I remember now! Well, as you know I would be more than happy to help you with your new set-up as I helped you with the old set-up.

What were the specs of the old cam?
