How many people running them? Pros and cons? Im really thinking of stepping it up from a 404 to a 414..since motor is gonna be out and refreshend... I know a con would be the boring part and that there would be no room for clean up if something fails..

You must be using a ls3 bore to try to get a 414?

I'm tossing around the ideal myself. My motor just has the ls3 pistons in it and been sonic decked..... maybe next rebuild I'll try the stroker crank. Bump for more info.....

I think it's an interesting idea. Not sure there are many people who have done it, which is probably why there hasn't been too many responses.

Go for it. Have you talked to any machine shops about it, and if so, what did they say?

That truck is making some serious power. I would talk to the place you are having machine the block first and get their take on it. You might also want to hit up Tick Performance or Vengeance and see what they say.

Lots of folks have done it. Sonic the block and see how far you can punch it out. The reason you see 4.010 or 4.030 is that's a safe overbore and allows any casting flaws/shifts to be corrected. 4.040 and above are usually there for rebuilds/refreshes.

You're not necessarily going to make more horsepower. But a 4.060" bore will work better than a 4.010" with LS3 heads.

I have seen 4.060b & 4.125s as a one time use 427cid

a 4.00s would be safer as the piston would not be traveling as far down the bore. the iron blocks have the shortest skirts and some have issues with the pistons "rocking" in the bores when going over square. it still exists at even a 4.00 stroke but the problem is much less prevalent and actually not much of a hindrance at all.
