The cam I had in my 99 Tran am in my Sig was great. And the heads worked great with the cam. If I ever want to build a car like this again I'm copying the exact build I have done once already and loved. Sold it to fund a more family car.

you could be right. but if he wants to retain stock manifolds (not sure why though-- 1-7\8 headers are awesome)

but since exhaust flow would be restricted, the long duration of the exhaust lobe of the EPS grind would help overcome the poorer flow of the manifolds...?

also, since a narrow LSA requires the better cylinder scavenging of long tube headers, a wide LSA, like the 117 of the EPS cam, doesn't require the action of cylinder scavenging nearly as much? plus the wide LSA will carry peak HP over a broad powerband--- like over 1000-1500 rpm as opposed to dropping like a rock after peak? this could help his trap speed if he's willing to shift at 6800 rpm.

if there's more to it, let me know. always willing to learn.

Its more to it than just the lsa, the reason the 117 lsa doesn't require the action of cylinder scavenging nearly as much as say..a 114 lsa, is because it has less overlap. You can also decrease the overlap by going with lower duration cam lobes, like I did going from a 232 down to a 222 while still keeping a 8* I/E split, and -10* overlap, all while dropping the lsa down to a 114 which will have a slightly higher DCR than a 117, which will require a slightly higher SCR to get the 117 lsa cam's DCR up to the same level.
FYI, a 114-115 lsa are not narrow lsa's, they're actually slightly on the wide side. What's narrow ...? more like a 109lsa or smaller is.

BTW, I don't expect you to agree with what I say, but I'm okay with that. Everybody opinions are different to some degree; some more, some less.

I'm running a custom EPS 218/222 114+1lsa, has a slight chop at idle but stock like manners and fuel economy. Really snappy from 1500-6500

Im putting the XR265HR in my Z28SS LS1 11.5CR 241 heads mildly ported new Blue Z06 springs and LS7 lifters, ported stock throttle body, A4 toughened up with better hard parts and 2200 stall speed and full flowmaster manifolds back with Delta flow muffler and going to be pro dyno-tuned...hoping this mild but tweaked daily sdriver concept is going to be ultra fun to drive and drag occasionally but still be fairly easy on my weekly fuel budget...thoughts? Guesses on what my 1/4 mile...will have it on road end of March..car was 13.59 with 145K on the clock
