Mangler, I've got the same heads and gaskets on this engine. I'll take a picture of the smaller botls tonight and post here for you.

AFR 210 heads with MLS head gaskets. Hope it helps.
Good feedback. Yea, I had the same problem on my first set and did the same thing using ARP specs. Which is why I made this post and video.

On my first set, while torquing them down to 80ft lbs, I only noticed on two studs that something didnt feel right. It was once I removed them when I saw that they were damanged and the nut didnt want to come off the stud.

Here is a picture of the stud. I can probably loosen these and back the studs out a little but since these were torqued last I didn't realize the issue until the rest of the studs were all tight. At the same time they torque to 22ftlb fine so not sure it even matters.

Ah! I see your concern now. That weird. I haven't had that problem yet. Mine stop about flush. Here's a pic.

Great feedback! Do you happen to remember what you torqued them to?

I just torqued a set of these to 80 and popped one of the medium studs. They definitely felt weird above 70. I would not trust them above 70 ft/lbs.

I got a set of (abadcamaro?) head studs off E-Bay last year that I haven't used yet, but I did mock them up and there's at least 1/2" of stud coming up past the nuts on the long bolts...

Why would you even GO to 80? Just curious.

I'd guess he did for the same reason I did. Mine came with no instructions, so I used ARP instructions. ARP say to take theirs to 80.

Only if you're using motor oil, but that's ARP specific.

If using ARP moly lube:

First pass 25lbft second pass at 50lbft, and finally a 3rd at 70lbft.

Finally install the 5 smaller ARP bolts and torque them to 22lbft.

If using motor oil use this:

First pass 30lbft second pass at 60lbft, and finally a 3rd at 80lbft.

Finally install the 5 smaller ARP bolts and torque them to 28lbft.

(Incase you didn't know you have to lube the threads and washers before installing... you must use either arp lube or motor oil. )

Either way, I would have stayed in the 70-75 ftlb range.

I take it you guys had no issue getting the popped part of stud from the block? Sucks to hear.

I just got my main studs in the main too. On the ebay link it shows

55lb inner bolts should use arp lube
50lb outer bolts should use arp lube
20lb for the side bolts
ARP torque lube must be used under and over washers and on threads.

Im not sure how that compairs to a arp set though.

I put arp lube under and on top of the washers and went 60 inner and 50 outter with no problem so far I like the ebay main studs. The heads will be going on this week with ebay head studs. I paid less then 250 for main and head studs. Thats cheaper then oem bolts and there reusable.
