Lightbulb Hot Rod mags "worlds most extreme ls1s"

I only got 4 posts when doing a search for the lingenfelter gt1 cam. Any way I know this artical is about 2-3months old now but i have to ask. In hot rods the "worlds fastest" h/c ls1 was like a 10.5 in the quarter (cant remember mph), with a 4l60e and the gt1 cam 218/229 113 w/ls6 springs(thats gotta be hella streetable...and i believe lpe recommends those springs too) along with lingenfelters stage2 ls6 ported heads...which are actually priced pretty good for having a name brand like "lingenfelter". Anywhy the owner didnt completly gut it...if i remember still over 3200 lbs with a 4l60e not a th350etc. Then just bolt ons like headers to top the motor off and i believe thats pretty much it. I know his suspension had to hook up well but i think these mods would make a hell of a street machine...then an ati procharger Well what do you guys think about this combination? I would love to run this combo on the street ! I remember the owner of the car telling hot rod how everyone would ask him how the car runs off the bottle....and then tell them it's na and watch there faces for reactions. hopefully i'll start a discussion because this combo looks tame compared to some other setups i've seen on ls1tech and seems to run almost too good, all with ls6 springs! Any one have this setup/cam to chime in as well....because so far i think i may have found the h/c package to go with!!!

Plenty of other H/C setups would run that number in that car.

Don't get too caught up in magazine numbers.

Look around here and see what 50 guys are doing with a particular setup before you make up your mind.

It's a red 2000 Formula RUQUIKER on this board. And the 3200 is race weight. That means that the car is around 3000lbs.

Sweet. But with a 3200 race weight I'm sure alot of setups will run that number.

They're not "magazine numbers." It's what someone (a boardmember) actually ran in his car. The magazine just featured his car
Well, since you're so smart...

Why did the magazine choose that particular car?

Because it was the fastest H/C car. Period.

That means that every other person who has ever put a H/C on a car and taken it to the track has ran SLOWER.

Hence, my suggestion to check out more setups before commiting to one based on what one car is running.

Yea I started with the new paint scheme this past weekend. I'm not done yet, I still need to finish up a few details then wet sand and buff her up. I did the paint myself with a friend.

I'll post more pics when she's done =)

Thats why I want to know if any one has this setup or at least the same cam....I mean, come on ls6 springs....the ever popular 224/224 runs more hi-po springs and it gets beat by this h/c package (not to mention hot rod said it "may" be able to pass cali smog...not that it needs to in my case in minnesota, but i'm just pointing out its relativly small size and nuts performance). To me it seems more tame that the gm hot cam and runs like a raped ape...the cam is $299 from lingenfelter. Back to the quote....anyone?

Also thanks for posting the link to the other discussion like this ..i'll try to talk to the owner about how it runs on the street...if he does,and more specifics..i'm not out to try and run the same combo on the strip against him but just turn some respectable times at a fun day or domestic vs. import night (hoping for mid11's) and lay the smack down on the street if need be!!! all with out a 224/224 w/918's Thanks for the replies so far!!!

I beleieve there have been a couple stock displacement cars go 10.50's.. which I say stock displacement because they had pistons and rods which really don't benefit any b/c the pistons are actually lighter but aftermarket rods usually make up for the piston weight loss.

i would say its the converter making that car as fast as it is.. not the weak heads/cam, thats also a really light weight car. my race weight is about 400lb heavier.

It's obvious the times are due to the weight. Not taking anything away as far as kudo's go. Point is that same vehicle with a larger cam and such would run even faster! But yeah you want ***** your car out to that weight then you can run that time with that little setup.

Ya'll also need to realize that the times posted in the magazines are these vehicle's quikest times they have ran, 3131 race weight, 2935 car weight(alot removed, a/c, abs, light weight brakes, light weight suspension etc were used on this car) the times mentioned were their QUICKEST. that means they had outstanding weather, they didnt post what they ran on a normal day, believe me.
