Default Identify this part that was in my oil pan

It was stuck to the magnetic drain plug when I drained the oil lat night. Haven't gone through the oil or filter yet. Motor is an LQ topped with AllPros and Jesel J2k shaft rockers.

Current theories are:

Oil pump pickup bolt washer
Small ARP head stud bolt washer
Something to do with the Jesel rockers although I don't remember any washers involved there.

Could it be an extra washer that was dropped in the engine while the heads were off? There's probably another half just like it in there somewhere.

Since when do washers have a groove in the inner diameter of it?

I don't see how it could have snapped and arp washer in half.. They are stronger than the engine itself..

Not sure what that groove is. Almost thought it was a thread but it's even across the cross section. I don't see how one would have snapped either but I can't think of anything else that small in the motor.

I looked at the picture on the other thread you have going and looked at some others online and it sure looks like it could be the split ring retainer used on the Jesel rockers.
If you look at this picture you'll see why I think this is it http://image.moparmusclemagazine.com..._retainers.jpg

You mean the ~c clip keeping the roller pins in? Well I pulled the valve covers tonight and everything in the valve train is accounted for, c-clips, valve locks, etc. Saying **** it, because I'm not yanking the motor to look for the other half of whatever that was that I found.

What color tinge is the metal,
I broke a dual Rollmaster after finding half a link & no-one was able to tell me what it was from.
The metal had a blue tinge to it.

If your valve train is all good, don't be like me!

Pull the front off & check the timing chain before you damage engine internals

Lmao . I am glad that you were able to find the problem before it destroyed the engine. Another reason I love this web site all the great people helping each other.

That was lucky finding the piece to start with before the engine grenaded and then having the right answer. A lot of people also would have just shrugged and moved on. You saved yourself a ton of money.

For reference it was this Comp Cams unit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-7102
It's been on the motor since it was built and installed ~July of last year.
