Why did you pay for something that wasn't what you wanted? A 3600 from a good company is about perfect for a street car that will see track use. A 3200 isn't bad for a daily driver either though.
I would call up Geoff at EPS or Kip at Cam Motion and tell them your goals and mods and let them spec you something. Past that, yes I would keep it in the ballpark of the 228R.
I would not run my 230/238 on that small of a converter for example. Honestly, mine could benefit from a 4000 but works fine on the 3600. Any tighter would not work at all unless it was tuned by a serious expert, which I am not.
