Default another cam question..like there isnt enough

i recently got a ptc 3200 and was wondering what the best cam to run is. i wanted to get a ms3 cam but from what i read i cannot run it with this low of a stall. i told the guy that was building it i wanted a 3600 but said it wouldnt be good for the street. i told i know ppl who run 4400 on the street. i was pretty pissed. but can i run a ms3 cam or am i stuck with something like 228r.

You would need a 4000 stall to run a MS3 efficiently and need gears on top of that.

Why did you pay for something that wasn't what you wanted? A 3600 from a good company is about perfect for a street car that will see track use. A 3200 isn't bad for a daily driver either though.

I would call up Geoff at EPS or Kip at Cam Motion and tell them your goals and mods and let them spec you something. Past that, yes I would keep it in the ballpark of the 228R.

I would not run my 230/238 on that small of a converter for example. Honestly, mine could benefit from a 4000 but works fine on the 3600. Any tighter would not work at all unless it was tuned by a serious expert, which I am not.

You could always send the stall back to be re-stalled to what you want. I have a yank ss3600 in my TA that I had to DD for awhile and I had no issues driving it. Gas mileage kind of sucks in town but on the highway I've gotten 26 mpg(I drove like a grandma). I'm actually trying to decide if i'm gonna sell my yank or send it in to re-stall to 4000.

EPS 222/226 would drive awesome with the 3200...

how much would it cost to get it re-stalled? and i wanted to drive my car. i may ride over to the shop and tell them i want a bigger stall

I have 3.73 gears but you should be able to call PTC and see what it costs to have it re-stalled.

I had a MS3 with a SS3600 and 3.73's and that stall left a lot to be desired. MS3's shine in a big stall, steep gears and a light car.... Pick something else

A good tuner can get a big cam to run well in a 3600 stall. The only issue is the lack of torque at that low of an rpm!

what cam would be best with a 3600? im not into peak power, i want what will make me the fastest

228r, Streetsweeper HT, 226/234, SNS 2, BTR stage 2, etc. With my MS3 & SS3600 there wasn't enough shift extension for that cam to shine. My car drove fine and no surging.
