INSTALLED G5X-2 ....OMG!!!
Congrats on the cam....glad I was able to make it over in time to hear you fire it up That idle is MEAN!!! Wish I could have made it out earlier to help.
BTW....what does your wife think?!
Take it easy,
Neil
P.S. BigBos, Jason's cam fit without any PTV issues.
Does the Idle need to be raised? You bet. Most likely another 100 rpms or so, along with a nice coldstart program. I have all of these #s worked out, and Alan will let you know how the drivability improves after sunday. He had the cam in there with no drivability tuning what so ever.
Does it drive Like stock? for the most part anything over 12-1300 rpms its fine. The bucking is at a minemum compared to some other cams.
FWIW, here in Indiana with the snow we have had lately, Alex's (bigSS) car has no more idle/coldstart trouble since the LS1edit tune @ speedinc. As far as my car goes, Same cam- I can sit in the car with my right foot on the clutch to start it, giving it no gas what so ever, and it will fire right up. No surging, searching, or stalling There is more to a cam than just the raw lift and duration #s

Your crazy to run a cam that big!
(unless you run proper muffler bearings and
a high flow kanuten valve)
Take care, fellas.

Hate to sound but how is this awesome cam affecting Gas Mileage? I'm sure none of you have been able to keep your foot out of it long enough to tell, but I was really wondering. My car is becoming more and more of a funtime car, but I like to pack it up in th summer and take off on roadtrips, and the mileage plays a pretty big factor, especially with ga$ price$ lately

Well if you buy this cam, along with any other cam I dont think you are careing about gas mileage anyway butI did drive the car about 150 miles today and managed 23 MPG with like 5 1/4mile blastest in there also....so its not bad at all
Damn..this cam seems more impressive everytime I drive it

2.02 valves + unmilled head= No Fly cutting
Call with your particular set up, and I can advise you on what you need.
But with a stock head there is nothing required. Just slide the cam in, and change the springs. We have the double springs that we feel are needed for best power and reliability.

Once you start putting in milled heads for higher compression, then I would worry.

What bearing does the fact that the base circle is reduced have on piston-to-valve clearance? With a reduced base-circle, you'll have to run a longer pushrod in order to maintain correct valve-train geometry. Between that, and the hydraulic lash uptake of the lifter, there won't be any difference in P/V/C. Just think about it, and you'll see what I mean.
yea just think...........if you would have just waited and gotten a M2, you could have had more power and better drivabilty

Where is the proof it makes more power and has better drivability
I have a stock pile of old parts in my garage where my vette normally sits.
As my vette sits @ my buddies shop waitng for the F'in Ups man to deleiver my parts....
I should have started this a month ago when we had 2 feet of snow....
because MMT dynoed a G5X-2 on dyno day, and then dynoed a M2, and the M2 Made more Power, and idles great with no tunning!

I call unless u have a video or if LGM was there. Was this done on the same car(Swap)? I could easily say we did the same comparison and the G5X2 dynoed more, but i didnt, get it? Or I could dyno the G5X2 with more mods, and get more power
Details please...or anybody here will call
