I have both cams. I was going to use the smaller 222/224 cam in my turbo 5.3 but it seemed to be decent for my LS1 as well. I bought the Vengence cam 240/244 on the recommendation of a racer friend of mine not realizing his perspective was that of a racer. Lol.
So now I have both and need to pick one.

We always suggest running at least 4.10's in a M6 F-Body with the Vindicator, otherwise it will be sluggish as others have said down low.
Our VRX4 camshaft performs extremely well for most of our 3.42 F-Body customers. It is a 228/230 .588/.592 112+4
You can check it out here: Vengeance Racing VRX4 Camshaft

so i know this thread was from 2014, but im wondering about a cam for my truck. my plan is to take a 6.0 block, and put 4.8 crank and rods in it with decked 799 heads off a vin b 5.3, id really like to run the Vindicator cam in it with 1.7 ratio rockers and the 7.4" hardened push rods. along with the dual valve springs. so heres the question, i have a lifted shortbox silverado on 35s and 3.73 gears and a denali 4l65e tranny. if i buy a 3200 stall converter, would i still "need" to regear? keep in mind that this truck is actually daily driven and may see a dyno or 2. along with the casual street race. I love the way these cams sounds, and would really like to have one. but id rather not pay $1000 bucks for a cam that would make it a boat anchor.
Thanks,
Ricky

no no and no....you would need a 5.10 gear with 35's. Stall converter would need to be 4400+...plus that cam has no low speed tq to get that heavy *** truck moving.
The vindicator is a track oriented cam for light weight vehicles running a steep gear...4.10 to 4.30 with a 26" tire, 4.56 with a 28, and if automatic again a 4400+ stall. The thing will be a gutless pig under 3k without a hefty amount of compression(12.5+)
If you want your truck to thump, call a company like Cam Motion and tell them what you have and your goals... you are traveling down Fail Avenue with you current parts selection.

well as of right now, i have a 5.3 block, 4.8 pistons, decked 706 heads and a 214/228 cam. long tubes, the denali tranny, hp tuners tune, 3.73 gears with a eaton true trac locker and i can still fry the tires. thats BOTH tires. With a stock 4l65e converter

A friend with a C5 FRC had this cam. He loved it on 3.90s but now the car is on 3.42s and is headed in more of a HPDE (track events) direction, he went down to something like the VRX4 above. I think he went 60k+ miles on the cam with a spring change at ~30k miles.
The cam cleared in the stock sortblock with 243s. I would recommend a stronger double spring such as BTR springs over a 918.
