Default Cam ideals

looking to put in a cam this winter. I have a 2000 camaro ls1, looking to do cam and springs. has stock 241 heads. it is not my daily driver but want it to be street friendly still but at the same time know that it has a cam.. nice lobe to it.

mods:
long tube headers
ls6 intake
3.73 gear
slp lid
lots of suspension upgrades but don't really matter for cam.

Lots of choices. Call one of the vendors for more specific suggestions and details.

First what transmission do you have; Auto or Manual...?

How high do you want to spin the motor...?
What would you consider as "street friendly"...?
What's more important to you:
Maximum power or long valve train life...?
Power gain below 5k rpm or above 5k rpm...?

Long valve train life. And street racing some track. So mid to high rpm

And it is a auto. And I know I will need to put a stall in also. I have a 3500 yank stall right now I could put in.

Try places like Texas Speed, Tic Performance, etc....They will set you up with something based on your needs. I could give you about 10 examples of what I think are good cams, but that would be just my opinion....not necessarily what's best for you

Okay so a cam with mild lobes, and you're willing to give up some low rpm grunt for better top-end power, and that will work good with a 3500 stall TC.

We still need more info, the more detailed the info the better; don't be vague!

Something like a 230/238 111+2 for a little more topend power. 228/232 111+3 for more bottom end and midrange. Neither would drive perfect, but I have a bigger cam and I've made it drive pretty close to stock with the stall, so it's all in the tune.

I would go with TSP torquer 2. 232/234 on 112.

Call one of the specialty shops like EPS, Cam Motion, Tick, or Texas Speed. They deal with these cars all the time.
