Looking at these two cams for my car. Bolt on stock 99 ls1 right now. I will keep the stock heads for a while also. I run the 1/8th mile almost every weekend during racing season so I plan on being at the track quite a bit with the car. I am looking at the Torquer v2 from TSP (staying away from the v3 because of the lift) and also the StreetSweeper HT cam. I want to keep it somewhat driveable because I do drive it to work sometimes but I want good track times also. I am also still on a 10 bolt stock 3.42's. I also considered the 228r but I'm afraid that wouldn't be enough cam for me. Cars with the exact same set up only difference would be one has the SSHT and one has the V2 which should run better at the track?

Nice, yeah I like the sound to it. I just don't want to get it then think I went to small. But I don't want to have to rev to the moon to make power either.
I had a SSHT for 7 years and it was a great cam. I made about 400 RWHP with headers and the torque was great from about 2,400 up to 6,400 RPM. I did not race a lot and never got a great 60' but it would trap close to 114 MPH at 1,000' DA with 3.91 gears in my M6 LS1 GTO

I'd suggest a cam with the same specs as the Tick SNS torqueMAX Stage 2 Cam for LS2 Engines (except for a LS1). It has LSL lobes that are milder than what's used in either the TV2(xe-r) or TV3(lsk) cam and the specs are very similar at 231/235 111lsa+2. Furthermore they're also available with even milder LXL lobes(230/234 111lsa+2).
With any of the cams mentioned in this thread I suggest at least 3.90 rear gears.

I have the ssht in my car and I love it. It makes great power and is easy to drive on the street. It's been a proven cam for years and there's a reason why. Ed Curtis knows what he's doing.
It was with 275 BFG drag radials. The BFGs IMHO were not very good, I couldn't dead hook either because of the tires or track. The IRS of the GTO makes it difficult to launch with a manual and its a heavier car than a f-body too. Although the car could scoot the power under the curve on the street made it really impressive.
If you're worried about the SSHT cam being too small you could always look at the FTI HellRaiser. I had it... Made the numbers in my sig.
I'd personally just shoot Ed an email and let him decide.
