Those head pics sure are sexy....quite a lot going on in that intake runner. The trailing guide vane seems to have a slight angle to direct the flow toward the spark plug area of the chamber. Curious as to what the CSA is on that 240 port ??

I am too. I'll prob call tomorrow and see what I can find out. I've "heard" it's really not much more than a standard 220 head or so, given the "length" of the runner.

Folks hear 240 and get worried, when it's the actual CSA that matters.

Yes you might eventually wear them out, but the wear rate is the same; slow and controlled. On a powdered metal guide, once it starts, it accelerates QUICKLY. Either way, the stands will be milled if needed to achieve proper geometry. I've also been told there's different types of bronze that are used in different heads. I'll leave it at that

With the valve angle I don't think I'll need to touch the pistons. And I'm just hoping the MSD fits under the cowl. It's taller then the Fast, which is bad news for us C5 guys...

I'm going to run whatever gasket and head cc I get told to by my cam / valvetrain guy. We're both EXTREMELY confident in my tuner

I saw that new intake at the PRI show a couple weeks ago. Definitely an interesting piece. Looking forward to your build.

Dave, keep an eye out for a tb on the corvette forum. I scored a 96mm ls1 type dbw for barely more than people want for the ls2. This tb is essentially an oversized stocker with 4 bolts. No wp clearance or tuning issues.

Just bought the ATI Damper, 10% UD with the high RPM material... Definitely going to do this build the RIGHT way!

With the other build I think there was more power to be had... Could have ran thinner gaskets for better quench, flycut, ported the Fast... Rod bolts, lighter valves...

Only regret I have from that Camaro is not getting a time slip for it. Damn that thing was a BLAST to drive.

Is flycutting on the table for this build? If so, you should really be able to increase power and torque.

Subscribed! I have been looking at these heads for a year now just debating and I have talked to some well known shops and people and none seemed to have personal experience with them besides MAST of course. And like you searching comes up with nothing. There is one cam guy that has messed with them a lil but not on a boost application which I would use them for.

Keep us updated please!

I'd doubt it with an 11* valve angle. But I won't know till I order the cam and GET it.

I've got math to do as well. Very well could go solid roller... All up on the air right now.

Hi Rise,

From my personal experience, there is a lot of room to go with the camshaft timing before flycutting is required with the ETP heads...wich are the mothers of the MAST ones.

Thanks Christian, that's good to know. I've been doing some math of my own Dave to see how much I'd be out if I sold off my AI Dart/RHS heads, Tick cam, and LS6 intake/TB and bought these MAST small bore LS3 heads, custom cam, and LS3 top end.

How high do you plan to spin this if you go solid roller?

There's so many variables. Depends on what intake I go with, for starters. I don't see a polymer anything being able to supply it, and im not cutting on this car.

I'm more than likely going to stick with hydraulic. It's a street car. Just want something different.

As for how high... Depends on what the power looks like. I'll more than likely have Katech rod bolts in her, so I won't be worried about that. I can see 7200 being realistic... IF the combo dictates it.

Didn't think Katech was still selling rod bolts?

I'm very interested in what kind of findings you will have. As it's either spending big money on a top end or bigger money with a whole motor setup.

Edit: Do you think the new msd May be your more obvious choice?

That's what I'm planning on. It "might" be a stock or Peak Speed LS3 to get me by for a while. Other option is the Medium Runner Fast LS3.

Problem is NOTHING is in anyone's hands yet, so it's hard to decide what to go with.

I hope Tony looks at and tests the MSD's. I don't know if he has any brand loyalty with Fast or not though, so it's tough planning right now.

Yea that seems to be the big problem with these small bore ls3s. It seems Ed Curtis likes them but other than that hard to find info

You haven't gotten em yet? Since I ordered mine bare it took less than a week to get to me. Valves took about 3 weeks to a month. What springs are you going with?
