Default Valve Springs for Yella Terra Ultra Lites?? Sponsor recommendation?

Ok so I'm replacing my valve springs from the previous owner and I'm wondering what to go with, the last thing I want is valve float. The lifters in the car are morel 5206's so no problems there. Idk what springs are in it now but I was looking at tick and found these three choices.

http://www.tickperformance.com/preci...le-spring-kit/

http://www.tickperformance.com/brian...l-lsx-engines/

http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...l-lsx-engines/

To me the btr and tick kit look like the exact same thing except the tick kit is rated at a different install height thus making the pressure a little different. The PRC kit I like but the seat pressure is 145 as opposed to 155 like the others however the open pressure is a much beefier 450.

So in essence what constitutes valve float? Is the open pressure more important or are they equally vital? Is 450 open too much for yt? I hear 420 but then lots run more and some with 420 get float problems. I currently shift at 6900 with the 7100 limiter

I run yella terra ultralites with PAC 1208x springs. 160/482 pressures. No problems yet(knock on wood).

I think these might be a winner but I havent heard too many people using the 1905s. Would they allow for a stable vavletrain up to my rpm?\

Are these the new Gen III YT or the Gen II? That may be a lot of spring for the Gen II rocker.

new gen 3 lol no way id run the older design. i know the lder ones coul go to 420 so i think the newer ones should be fine. The thing is the closest dyno to me is hours awa so i wont have the chance to see the curve after i put the springs in so i just would rather do something where i know the pressures will work.

the 1905 there has a lot of seat pressure with jus a little less open pressure

At the point you've reached for valve spring pressures, I'd simply switch to a Cam Motion Low Lash Roller cam.....solid style
I'm just speaking on behalf of that hydraulic lifter here, that thing does not want any part of valve spring pressures approaching mid fours....
I know plenty of people have run that but at the expense of what...??? longevity or otherwise

Well switching to an LLSR isnt really an option I'd need new cam, lifters, and adjustable rockers. Im not against going to less pressure just no one seems to know what springs to run with the YT lol. The morel 5206 are their flagship link bar lifters and should take the eht pressure no problem lol so I'm not worried about that at all. If I was running stock drop ins I could see your point

I am no forum sponsor and will not recommended anything as I am no professional but can write here the characteristics about the springs my engine is running with YT Gen III since ~ 5000 miles revving daily to 7500rpm:

- Close Pressure 175# @ 1.752"
- Open Pressure 423# @ max lift
- Max lift 0.620 with EDC Camshaft
- Springs shimmed @ 0.050 of Coil Bind
plus:
- Manton 5 Series Pushrods 3/8 x .095 Wall
- Oil Pressure Min 33PSI max 62PSI @ 230/280*F with appropriate oil
- Morel Linked Bar Lifters ref 5206...preload is not a lot...
- Block LS3 Cylinder Heads ETP

This valve-train is silent.
Engine is revving to 7500 rpm on engine dyno as well as on the street any gears without any signs of valve-train instability.
Power is curve is flat from 6100 rpm to 7100 rpm.

BTW, this setup was set in conjunction with YT AUS, Roger Vinci and obviously Ed Curtis.

Duh. You pick your springs to match your cam THEN buy rockers for your springs

ugghhh nooo... you need to pick springs based on the whole combo. your spring and cam choice dont have too dictate the rocker choice. if you choose a roller rocker you need to buy heavier springs.

The PAC 1905 in this link would be my choice with the heavier roller rockers.

Our Max Pressure springs are great for roller rockers but they're currently out of stock.

I hope this helps!

Listen to Brian, Alex lol or called up Martin. I just went over a very similar setup with him 7k rev limit and martin recommended the PAC 1206 shimmed up .075 since my cam is only .595/.585.

Would that work as well for him brian? They are a little more expensive but you get a better spring in the end for 100 bucks more lol

You buy springs that match the entire cam/valve train combination. The same cam could very well need a different spring depending on which rocker arm is used. It makes a big difference when you are using a rocker that has a 22 grams of weight over the nose opposed to a rocker that is only 8 grams.

The VHP HD SK was developed by Vinci in combination with YT. Notice the open pressure - below 425... which is key. But look at the seat pressure... 175... also key. The YTs need more seat/closed pressure than GM rockers, but not a lot more open pressure. I'd look at those or the 1905s since they are close to those Vinci springs.

I just ordered some pac's for my YT since I had to sell the jesels. Martin set me up with the 1206x shimmed up a bit. I'll have 440ish open and 170 seat. From what Martin has told me they have run upwards of 470 on the new yella terras and have never had any issues the old ones are another story. Just thought that info might be useful for some people.

I considered Vinci but when I called they do not offer TI retainers anymore and I wanted those for the weight savings
