Give me some time guys, I'll get it going again. Got referred to 2 different builders yesterday so I need to call em up and see what they say. From what the other shops told me I'm better off buying another short block but we shall see.

I'm going to toss something out here. Feel free to throw it back:

Remove the damn factory bolts. Helicoil or timesert the stripped inners that are only going to see 25ftlbs anyway.

Grab a ProComp (eBay) headstud kit and be done with it. Plenty of boosted setups running these studs without issue at all.

And I really dont see WHY a builder would say the SB is trashed... We're talking about repairing the threads that aren't seeing all that much torque.

Haha you guys are nutz, besides I'm more of a corona/ dos x's type of guy. Builder said it's fixable but he has a lot of work and probably run me 400 to fix. For 1000 I can get a complete lq9. Sell off the top end and my ls1 and not be out too much into it. I read the pro comp head studs run a little short in length, is that true? The decks on these things are pretty beefy, not too sure how theyd work out.

I personally think the small bores would REALLY shine on a 4.0 bore, with flat tops (LQ9) to boot.

Still ls1, did a timesert kit and havent driven it. Just idle time making sure it's got good pressure and not overheating but I have an ls3 map and it's got a slight misfire on both banks so needs a retune, after 4 years of sitting it ain't to shabby idling on its own

Ended up doing chs trunion kit and racetronix pump with a hotwire and fired right up, hopefully next week retune and drive it for a bit

I had problems with one of my ls1 blocks before. Starter bolts and rocker arm bolt holes had to be heli coiled as the block got brittle. Pulled threads out..
