Default How far off am I? First v8 build.

Hey guys, I'm about to start my v8 build, I'm from the world of turbo four bangers. So try to bear with me if I'm totally off track, but I have done a decent amount of research.

I haven't started buying parts yet, due to lack of knowledge.
But my idea is...

LQ4 block with forged internals,
Ls1 cam,
Ls3 heads,
Lsa supercharger,
With a t56 transmission.
Will all of that work? Or am I way off?

Budget drift motor for a 240. Don't really have any power goals.

Bone stock LS1 engine/T56 from a donor car would be a good start for you for the 240 IMO.
Then start building from there while learning the ins/out of these engines.

Agreed a stock ls1 would be a much better option to start with. Or even an ls3 to get the extra low end torque.

Ls1/3 cost around 3000 more than the build I have listed, do you have any reasoning?

lol it sounds like you do have power goals, lotsa power

A lsa blower lq4 will make 500-600 pretty easily without any effort

Sounds super overkill for a drift car unless you are competing professionally, however we all have our own limits

How do you get that figure?
You can get an entire Engine with ECU/Harness and T56 for 3k or less.

Well damn! So nitrous isn't even needed.
So let me get the straight, an lq4 with an LSA supercharger will make between 5 and 600 horsepower to the wheels with the proper tuning?

Those were figures I was finding off of Jegs, because I can't find a reputable place to source an ls1 or ls3.

Depending where you live, craigslist always has a ls1 pull out for sale.

Yea no need to spray nitrous on top of the lsa/lq4 setup for drifting

However me personally, I would try and find a ls2 shortblock vs lq4 since the aluminum ls2 is 100 lbs lighter than the lq4 and won't weigh the front of your car down as much..

But in all honesty I would keep doing some research and everything will slowly come together

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. You should be able to find all of that for relatively cheap. For a drifting application, you may want to invest heavily in the cooling system for the blower (good pump, big heat exchanger, enormous reservoir).
