Default trickflow 220 cast review

Ok guys i dont see a lot of ppl post there dyno numbers with these heads. I bought em new from brian tooley. Hand blended and miller to 60cc.

Before the heads i dynod 387 with a 228r cam n stock stall. Only change made were the heads and a yank pas 3400 stall. It made 425 on the same dyno. Same outside temps. I believe the converter easily ate up 10-13hp on the rollers.

The heads made great usable power from 3500-6500 rpm.

That gives a good idea of how much the heads are worth power wise. Usually people change a bunch of other stuff at the same time. Any pics of the heads?

No i dont have any sorry. But i will say the intake and exhaust runners were very clean as well as the chambers. Im hoping for a half second faster and 5 mph.

Nice comparison! I think 4-5 mph is realistic

Nice solid gains! Great option for people wanting to save some money compared to the more expensive offerings out there.

Thanks

This is just my personal opinion, but I truly believe that if you put this TFS 220cc head, worked by Tooley, up against heads like MAMO 220cc or MAST cathedral ports, you are going to see virtually no gains. Again, just my opinion. Oftentimes too many people "drink the Kool-Aid", and I think sometimes the Kool-Aid isn't all it's cracked up to be.

great with an ls6 intake. Fast setup would probably be worth 25-35 more hp on that setup

Which heads did you have originally (ie the one that got you 387hp)? Thanks

i was disapointed. but again remember i added a 3400 stall. so like i said i think a few ponies and torque got lost their. my stock converter and cam only did 371 torque. it did 387 with the heads.

street tires used on all dyno passes for no power loss through sticky drag radials or slicks.

the dyno is one thing. im worried about the track though. im looking for a solid half second gain. once i go i will report back

you may gain a few horses but nothing to brag home about. money is spent better elsewhere. i can almost bet if i gained 5 tenths at the track with these and swapped em out for say the new mamo 220 heads it wouldnt change a bit.

dyno may show an extra 12 hp but doubt you will feel the difference or notice it on the timeslip. for a 346 i think these are great heads.

Yep, another thread in here with a guy running these heads "touched" by Tooley and an Ed Curtis (Flowtech Induction) Streetsweeper cam prove these heads top of the line for a 346ci LS.

That build absolutely surprised me, something like 480rwhp with tfs220's, ed c streetsweeper, and a mamo-fied fast92 intake on a stock 346 shortblock.

SF1hotls1, I think you are a ported fast intake and some true duals away from being dangerously close to 500rwhp. Keep up the good work.
