Never ending!
The ls1 peaked at right around 6200 with a Fast 90 and liked to be shifted at 6750 at the track. My roommate ran the same thing in his M6 car with stock heads and it worked well there too.
The ls2 is peaking a little early for my tastes at 6000 and liked a much lower shift point at the track. I think I got down to 6300 1-2 and 6200 2-3. But it pulls like a big block everywhere below so it's a badass street cam.
I'm in the process of going to a solid roller and we decided to do the equivalent of a 234/242 113 which should add some top end from duration and overlap increase.
