Default Where did the torque go? - Help!

Well, over the past week, I had AP Engineering install the PP LS6 style heads and the TSP 231/237 cam. The cam had the 112 lsa. These guys are very professional and did a extremely good job. Now for the confusing part, they dyno tuned the car today on their Mustang dyno. Now I know the Mustand dyno is not going to be close to the numbers on a dynojet. They dyno tuned the car last April 2003 when I had the DTS rear with the 4:10 gear, the steel driveshaft and the Spec Stage III clutch put in. At that time, the car dyno'd at 335.8 hp and 355.5 ft lbs of torque. The car had all of the mod's in the sig below. I don't know what I was expecting out of these heads and this cam, because I had read about the Mustang dyno producing lower numbers. That being said, the dyno today produced 385.8 hp and are you ready for this, 339.6 ft lbs of torque. I'm stumped, why would the torque decrease like that. I still have the cats on, so Chris said thats 10hp, no cutout, okay say another 10 hp, even on a Mustang dyno, that could be , maybe. Can anybody explain why they think the torque decreased.

odd...do you have a pic of the sheet so we can compare? is the loss all across the board er what? When i went with my pp 5.7's & 231/237 cam i gained 75/35 peak and gained across the board after 3800 rpms.

I'll scan it into the computer tomorrow and post it. Believe it or not, the hp peaked at 6600 rpm and the torque peaked at 5100, whereas before it peaked at 4600 rpm. It's lower across the board, actually, the previous torque curve falls below the current torque curve at around 5200 rpm. At that point the current torque is above previous. But up to that point, it is solidly below the previous torque curve. And before we start thinking AFR, they said the afr was 12.2 to 12.8 and no kr.

Any chance you can dyno on a Dynojet? The Mustang is better for tuning, but its kinda a thing where its just best to compare before/after numbers. The torque doesn't look right at all, although I remember someone else saying torque was really low after dynoing on a Mustang dyno...hmm

I do like how it peaks at 6600 though, at our elevation that cam peaks at 6300-6400.

Here are the dyno sheets. The first one shows a comparison to the dyno done last year. The second is a sheet of just yesterdays dyno.

Go to the dynojet and dyno there. That way we can compare #'s better. Also I cannot see the graph either.

PP S2 5.3L heads
TSP 232R 232/228 .595/.588 112lsa
LS6 intake
3" Cutout
Pacesetter LT's w/ORY pipe (catless)
TSP Lid

I got tuned on the EXACT same dyno as you...

Dyno: 382rwhp / 346rwtq
Graph: http://lethalss.ssgraphix.com/images/dyno383-346.jpg

Also, I know of a dynojet @ 17 & Vandyke that will do 3 pulls for $75

Yeah, andy's auto or something like that, my friend knows him, on the service drive near that bridge.

I say you will put down 423/365 on the dynojet, let me know.

Let me know if you ever want to meet up and hang out, I have a lot of fbody friends and we cruise together a lot.

theres something odd about they dyno sheet...if you look at the two hp curves from 2600-3700 it looks like the new combo has more hp, but then if you look at the tq curves the old setup has more tq that makes no sense.

I've never seen a car make more hp and loose torque at the same time. We have a car getting the same package today/tomorrow, my guess is 430-435rwhp and 399tq.

If you look at my comparison graph, it looks a lot like yours on the lower end only:

Did you guys degree the new cam wrong?? That will really jack up your numbers. Just something to check off the "if" list.

ok I'm a newbie here but I'm curious how do you degree a cam wrong

the reason I'm asking is because my cam numbers were lower than normal also after dyno tuning

I have a 2002 SS with a F13 and I dynoed @ 367rwhp and 351 trq

I'm suprised nobody has said this yet: Does it really matter what the dyno said? If it's tuned take it to the track and check out your new mph. If the a/f is good and it's not knocking, I'd go give it the business and see how it performs.

Granted, it seems to be monsoon season around here so I guess dynos are the only thing we can race right now!
