uhhhhh, yes. Those valve covers are BAD ***! They turned out great -- I'll have to look at ordering a set.

Now show me where you are putting your coils...

Jeff over at Precision Metalcraft is a great guy. I should have my intake from him in the next 2 weeks, I decided to get rid of my FAST.

What up 5L. You can have him make the valve covers with coil brackets but they're not as pretty IMO

I am putting my coils in the frame rails just in front of the tire well. I'll post some pics up when I get it done. But it's nice because the wires feed forward along the head under the headers and you just have to tie them up good. I just made my own wires from the MSD custom kit. I might have Firecore make my wires for me this next time.

Got the gauge portion mounted up. The Holley gauges on the sides of the Autometer Cobalt speedo and tach are universal. I'll probably use them for left and right wideband.

Default Updates

So I got a few updates. MWC called and all my parts are in as of late last week so shouldn't be long now

I pulled the dash in the interior and finished painting. I still need to do the roll cage but I'm going to do that in Rustoleum Hammertone using a foam brush. I've seen it turn out really nice looking.

I also painted most of the engine compartment. I still need to smooth out the cowl with some all-metal and bondo but I wanted to get the engine dropped in so I can get some things mocked up.

Dropped the motor in. Pretty easy with the cowl cut back.

Pretty happy the engine is actually in. Now I can get a lot more done.

Lol. Very true! Still needs to go to paint and my wiring harness isn't done yet. Supposed to be the next one that he makes so should be soon though. I have about everything else I need except a couple gauges. I'll get the car rolling pretty quickly after MWC gets me my rear so I can take it to get painted. It's going to look pretty awesome. It's moving at a snails pace now for progress but I'll get it done sooner than later

Great job Aron! What a very informative build thread. Not many people tackle a build on there own, they just ship it off and pay the bill! Can't wait to see it put back together brother.

Got a little more done. Painted the roll cage. I used Rustoleum Hammertone Black paint. Pretty cool stuff. Dries textured so it hides brush strokes. It's not perfect but looks pretty good.

Can't tell real good from this pic but it will look good when the interior is in.

Here's a close up shot to show the texture

Here's a pic of the paint I used. I used foam brushes to apply it. I liked it better than the cheap bristle brushes because it doesn't leave any bristles in the paint and goes on very smooth.

This is the paint I used for the interior and under the car. I also just used this to touch up the engine bay too. Looks really good but if you get it on your skin it doesn't come off. I used a foam brush for application for this also.

This is what I used to clean and prep all the surfaces. Seems to work really well.

Interior pic. I just set the seats in to see what it's going to look like

Got the dash back in

Also did a little work on the engine. Attached the vacuum pump and procharger bracket. I need to see how I'm going to fit everything. I'm also messing with the alternator because I would like to use it as the tensioner for the serpentine belt, I just need to find the right bracket to mount on the passenger side head.

And lastly I need to figure out how to get this to work. My motor mounts are not matching up to my new k member. I marked the mount in red here. I'll either have to drill this motor mount out or try and use some brute force to get it to line up but I doubt that's going to work. I loosened up all the k member bolts and motor mount bolts and I'm going to see if I can get it to work. We'll see. Gotta love these little snags.

Not yet Scotty. Been working on my other car a little waiting on my rear and wiring harness. Kevin is on vacation at MWC this week and I wanted to chat with him about it. Darth_V8r gave me an awesome idea I just need to get a small jack to try it. I'll take some pictures and post them up.

Car is coming together though.
