I was always told to mount it before the cooler so you aren't pushing hot air through it at all times. That is more for a street application, this being a drag car your not going to be running it for an excessive amount of time. I stuck my bypass in the wheel well between the head unit and the cooler.
Also are you going to run meth injection and a IAT sensor ?
Looking good man keep the updates coming, looking forward to seeing this thing in action.

I have a meth kit but I'm not sure if I will use it or not. I did have a bung installed for the IAT sensor just after the throttle body so if I do use it I can monitor temps after the meth is sprayed. My thoughts were if the pump fails the computer would be able to tell by increased temps.
I should probably install another IAT sensor in the intake tubing before the throttle body.
I'm planning on running e85 so I was thinking that I may not need the meth because it should run a little cooler overall.
What do you think?

This thread is too long, forgot you were going E85 on this. Does seem most people stop running meth when switching from pump gas. Sound like you have the IAT handled as well.

Figured I'd do a little update
Bought a corvette alternator relocation kit and modified it a little to make it work to put my alternator on the passenger side head
I installed it as it came in the box and thought it was perfect
Then I noticed how close the alternator was to the frame rails. I have solid motor mounts but still, too close for comfort for me.
So I decided to change the mounting point
Fits real good now. Also ground the alternator down a little on that side for more insurance.
Final product.
I can run a pretty short belt now and use this bracket as the tensioner also. Should work good. I may need to change spacing a little once I install the belt but we'll see. I order some aluminum tubing that I can cut into spacers so possibilities are limitless.

I decided to cut part of the t top well out also. With my sump tank and the fuel system I'm running with dual inlets and dual prefilters there's just not a lot of room. I'm going to do the CF roof for this car eventually anyway and eliminate the t tops. But for now if I want to take them out I'll just leave them at home. I may cut more of it out later but I'll have to figure out how to mount the gas tank then or just go to a fuel cell at that point.
Here are some pics of the tubing all welded up that I mocked up the other day too
Took the intake off to get the car ready to take to the painter. He's going to paint the unpainted parts of the engine compartment and smooth the cowl out for me a little. Doesn't have to look perfect but better than I could do probably.
A shot with the hood sitting on it
And loaded up going to the painter. Should get it back in a couple weeks. He's going to assemble the car for me and install the hood rails and fasteners. Should look like a car again soon! It's funny, it's so light we just pushed it on the trailer. Just my neighbor and myself.
Ran 12.9 @ 107 with this car this year. 1.8 60'. Pretty quick little machine. 2000DA and 90 degrees out.
Cool pic with the sun
And while that one is gone, hopefully finish this one. Just a simple LS1 street car

Nice update! Don't worry about the welds being pretty. Worry about the hammer test.
One day, you'll read your whole thread all over again and you'll be really glad you did it

Yeah I'm definitely glad I've documented everything. It's fun to go back through everything and see how much I've done. Can't wait to get it to the track!
