Default HELP! Bad Knock

Hey Guys,
So I ran some seafoam through through the crank case . I know... my bad. And the next two videos are the result. The first one shows the noise when it started and the second shows it in it's present state. Any educated guesses would be great as I start tearing into this thing in an effort to get her back on the road. Thanks!

At first.....

Now......

That does not sound good at all. I have no personal experience with Seafoam but have always been a bit skeptical of it. How much Seafoam did you use exactly? One can of Sea Foam treats up to 16 quarts of motor oil. I assume you drained it and put fresh oil in already?

That sucks...sounds like a nightmare.

I poured the specified amount ran it for a few small trips. Then I changed the oil and that noise started developing. Im hoping its something like a collapsed lifter but im not holding my breath on that.

Collapsed lifter stop running the car and pull the valve covers.

You know that cam you were going to put in it. Well now is the time, best of luck.

Its a lifter, you can try putting a qt of ATf in the oil and hope it opens it up. If not it needs to come apart. SEA Foam is complete garbage, I've seen it ruin good engines.

Ok so it I'll definitely go down the track of replacing the lifters. I see a few of you guys are from the bay area. Do any of you have a good port/polish shop recommendation for the heads? Thanks!

Rod knock, sounds exactly like my LQ4 did. Do a cylinder balance test to confirm.

I hate to tell you, but that is more than just a lifter. Start by pulling a plug wire one at a time if the noise is greatly reduced from one of the plugs being pulled you spun a rod bearing on that cyclinder.

Is it possible to have a spun/destroyed rod bearing, and show NO loss of oil pressure whatsoever??

Thats a great question, because my oil pressure is normal.

I suppose its possible. If the oiling hole of the bearing moved and the bearing itself sealed the oil channel in the rod then the pressure would just move elsewhere but there would be no oil hemorrhaging so pressure might not drop.

Just a guess

Its a lifter, that's not rod noise not saying the seacrap didn't damage a bearing but that noise IS A LIFTER. Put in a qt of ATf before you do anything, it may quiet it right down.

Once a lifter is officially 'collapsed', can it ever be brought back to life with this method, or will it ONLY work with dirty lifters not yet collapsed, but 'on their way' to that condition??

Depends on the reason for the collapse, is it gummed up or did the spring fail.
