I installed a couple sets this last weekend. One set replaced an unused but installed Comp kit, the other set went in a set of rockers I bought to replace my Comp set with 10k miles on them. I didn't disassemble the comp set of rockers. I may have just been sensitive to it, but maybe it was a little quieter in the engine bay. My cam isn't that aggressive though...

Regardless, I did it for the peace of mind. Now I have it!

Harley rocker arms since the Evo motor which came out in 1984 have had bushings, if the work in those air cooled tractor motors they'll be fine in an LS.
That's a lot of motors & over 32 years.
Harleys have ugly 1.625:1 rockers & Harley performance springs have similar pressure to common LS springs.
FWIW I've seen shafts & bushings wear with higher lifts & spring pressure but I raced mine & Harley motors aren't really well engineered.

Was there a change In the trunions? Just received my kit today, and they look great but different from the pictures posted. Mine don't have the 2 oil Chanel's on each side in the 10 o clock and 2 o clock position, just a flat spot on the top?

Yes the new revision allows any aftermarket bolt to be used with the trunnion upgrade.

So these things are the new hot item? How do they compare to my BTR trunion kit I have sitting in the other room? They look nice that's for damn sure. It's going Into a heads cam daily so I'd very much like whichever is more set it and forget it of the two.

Do these kits move the rocker away from the lifter? I re-checked my pushrod length with an adjustable push rod and it seems like they moved the rocker away from the lifter .0125? I had 7.35 on my adjustable pushrod with the stock rockers and 7.3625 with these? Just wondering if any one else has noticed this?

Chris I think he was asking about the changes made in the red boxes. What was the reason for that?

With the age of the new DIY guy a product needs to be user friendly. If the guy is using OEM bolts, aftermarket bolts, or a stud the kit he needs our kit to work with any of these. We had a few calls that customers had to trim bolts and such. The new design is based on the DIY to be able to use any fastener and new oil channel is the same volume of oil supply to the bushing.

Chris what is the difference in hardness between your trunion and say a comp trunion?

Also what is the nominal tolerance for the bushing to trunion? Oil impregnated bronze bearings are being used I assume?

Wow... Those Comp trunnions don't look good at all. What springs are you running?

The leader in Valve train technology helps hone your cylinders as you drive, polishing main and rod bearings no extra charge.

All, yes, all the comp trunions had wear, some worse than others(32K miles) running VR 1 racing oil. Now, with the Straub kit, my valve train on my LS7 has never been so quiet. Running double springs on a modest lift .640/.640 Bullet cam.

Would of never seen the wear as it hides by the bearing race. Had to press out the trunion to see the wear.

Ordered my kit from Straub. Chris, Tim and the folks their were friendly and offered prompt service.

Regards, Tom.

I have no idea what Comps hardness is. Our's is manufactured to our spec based on on what the bushing material and the function of the product. I will say that our surface REM finish is very important to the part.

When your using a sleeve or bushing you want an oil layer to form between the axle and the bushing. This amount of clearance is greater than what some would think it could be. The rocker is fine to run up to .006" of clearance.

We have now had about 9 emails from consumers about the noise difference in there LS engines. The comments have all been about how much quieter the engine is with the new bushing trunnion install.

So the oem ls7 bolts can't be used? Or do I have to trim the bolts I got with my kit?
