Default Block weight comparison?

What is the difference in block weight between the 5.7L LS1 aluminum block and the 6.0L iron block?

I always heard it was about 85lbs but the gentleman who says 100lbs sounds like he may have direct knowledge. Well worth the extra strength/durability to me. That's why i did it, not to mention its at least $1,000.00 cheaper.

I agree with MTI 427 Roadster, the extra 92lbs isn't as important to me as strength and durabliity. I just hope going from 346CI to 370CI will justify the weight difference. But then again if it doesn't I can spray the heck out of it! <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

In the GM LS1 Service manual it states a 183lbs weight for the 6.0L block and a 91lbs weight for the LS1 block.

I wonder what a resleeved block weighs....The darton sleeves are bigger than the stock sleeves, so I'm assuming it weighs more than a stock block. I wonder how much though.

Wow - back from the dead!

I guess that is proof that the search works.
