Oil Pressure Questions
Hi. I have been getting my car back together after it had been sitting awhile. Last week got it started right up and drove it around a bit. The auto meter oil pressure gauge showed 40ish at idle and up towards 60 on acceleration. Today I took off to get the car inspected (TX). And when I had the hood open it was making a very very high pitched squeal I hadn't heard before. I figured maybe pulleys or belt. Then I I got about a couple miles away and noticed my oil pressure at about 8-9psi. I figured maybe gauge issue/ sender but I took right back home. Wasn't running any different and wasn't running hot. No lifter noises. Oil level is good. No shavings I can see in oil. Oil pump is a TSP LS 6 ported pump. I am hoping/ assuming gauge or sender issue but unsure. I'm fairly new to LS engines. I got a manual gauge but I can't get the damn sender off yet. It's an Autometer 0-100 psi sender but my oil sender socket is too big. Any ideas on what size will fit? I also changed oil and filter to Mobil 1 filter cause I read something about collapsed filters. That didn't really help. I get about 10 at idle and close to 20 when lightly revved. In the meantime does anyone have any ideas. It's really the squeal/ whistle that freaks me out. Kinda sounded like metal on metal. However I would assume lifter noise before any damage?

When you first start up after a long while, the IAC defaults to very open and makes a horrible shrieking noise that will sound almost like you lost your power steering pump bearing, since that's right by the throttle. As it learns idle, it quiets down.
Mine never completely went away. Remember that baffled thing you ditched when you upgraded your kid or whatever? That thing was designed specifically to cancel out the IAC noise.

Well I finally got my manual oil press gauge on and luckily it's reading at 50psi at idle and up to 75 when revved. So I guess it's either sender or maybe a grounding issue? It's an Autometer 0-100 psi. Anyone have experience with those or know how to test it. It's 115$ so I don't just wanna replace it

Did you find out what it was?
I have a 2013 raptor, and recently changed the valve covers. Now I have a bad squal when the engine warms up if not under load. Sounds low on the engine. Once it’s not under load it’s terrible. Scratching my head over it. I removed the serpentine belt (just one belt On it) noise continues

This is a Chevy LS forum. You might look around for a Raptor forum.
