Default New to the ls world looking for advice

I have a 2002 6.0 with 178,000 miles and I'm going to turbocharger out and I have a few questions.Should I replace the main bearings and rings? I'm doing the rods bearings because I'm putting scat rods in it and I'm having the machine shop check and if necessary adjust the rod end balanced. My goal is 700whp and I appreciate any advice.

If you're gonna go through the trouble to tear it down and take it to the machine shop then I would replace all of the bearings while you're in there(main, rod, cam). I would also do a new set of rings and a cylinder hone then you've got yourself a completely fresh motor. Just my 2 pennies. Good luck with the build either way.

^ what he said. Make sure the ptb clearance is within spec as well. Having heavier rods can cause you to have to rebalance the crank as well though. Keep an open mind when it comes to machine shop costs and options vs durability and longevity.

Definatly get new bearings, and rings. Id make sure to use the arp 2000 rod bolts. They will handle what ever you can throw at them. Using them for my 1k build. But im forging everything other than the crank. Costly but well worth it

Wow , Scat conn rods are heavier than factory gen 3 cracked cap rods ? I woulda guessed the Scats to be lighter a smidge anyway .

If you use ARP 2000 rod bolts, make sure you have the machine shop re-bore them for circularity. Its common for them to distort the bore.

You can purchase Scat rods with ARP Pro2000 bolts. They dont need to be rehoned.
If you do use them in stock rods, even the regular arps, then you need to machine them obviously.
