Default Swap worth it? Ls1 to lq4?

Hey everyone. I have an ls1 with PRC 2.5 heads, a torquer v.2 cam and an Ls6 intake. I'm bored with the power but money is tight right now so I was looking at lq4s and lq9s. I found a decent deal on an lq4 and I was wondering everyone's opinions on whether or not the swap would be worth it.

My car currently makes 397/369 at the wheels on a mustang dyno through a Dana 60 and I'm looking for some more power.

I was thinking an lq4 with l92 heads ls3 intake manifold and swapping my cam over. Worth all the trouble? Opinions welcome. Thanks

What PRC heads exactly? I went from a LS1 to a LQ9. Used the same heads and intake but went with a bigger cam. Wasn't a big difference but noticeable for sure. Not worth it at all unless you have to change the motor for some reason

I recommend 408 stroker if you're gonna do it! You will love the extra power & torque it will make! Go with an LS3 top end & stock LS3 intake flows just as good as an LS3 FAST. I just put a 416 LS3 together last year & it runs strong!

Sorry I somehow missed the part where you mentioned changing the HCI along with the bigger cubes. With that said there can be a pretty big difference, but it's still not worth the money IMO if your LS1 setup is working just fine. If you want more power but are on a budget just hit it with a 100-150 shot. That's what I do when I want that extra kick. Bang for the buck nitrous can't be beat

Better wait then. If ya ever decide to go bigger you can get good $$ selling parts off your LS1 in the classifieds on here. I got $4k for all my ls1 stuff parted out. Still got my ls1 block, crank & heads too! I would go with a custom cam also.

Agreed on taking the time to wait.If money is tight but you can afford to atleast grab the lq4/9 and stash it somewhere then do that for now.Having a backup or a motor you can slowly build will be a much better way to approach getting more power in your car while still driving the current setup.

I can say when i switched from a stock ls1 to a stock lq4 I noticed the difference in torque delivery through the power band felt stronger to the butt dyno...but at slow parking lot speeds..the front end weight comes into play. The steering isnt as responsive.

Grab the lq4...spend time to build it,when its done..then swap it out with the ls1.Sell your ls1 complete or part it and recoupe funds.
