Default Cam thoughts/recommendation

I just got the trick flow top end kit with the 220 as cast heads for my 01 ls1. I wanted something more serious than the I believe .575 cam that usually comes in the kit. Iopted in for their .625/.625 278/286 advertised duration 113 lsa.

Has anyone ever used this cam? I was looking into the MS4 or Vindicator cam prior, would I be better going with something like that?

Thanks

Thenks for the reply.

Ls6 intake. Stock bottom end. T56 trans. Gears are undecided as of now but will be 4.11-4.56 on a 29.5" rear tire.

With your gearing you could get away with a bigger cam like the MS4, although some of that would be offset by the 29" tire. If it's just a street car you might like a cam like the 278/286 you listed much better

.575 cam would be the perfect cam for just about any HD short of full race and the price is good too

Those heads do not require that much split. Choosing the right camshaft depends on which version of the 220's you have either LS1/LS2.

Call BTR and ask for his advice.

Just because a cam got more lift doesn't means it's go make a big horsepower number. Duration is more important than lift.....

and yet... For some reason.... People post lift specs but no duration specs.......and ask how they'll run.

Hmmm Tooley loves to pair those heads with his Stage 4 cam which has a pretty decent split.
