Default Torquer v4(installed)first impressions

Finally got around to finishing my cam install. Used all TSP parts including an ls6 oil pump. Drove it approximately 40mi before getting it tuned which was very difficult. Lots of stalling. Tuned by efi specialties on a dynocom dyno (reads a little high from what I hear) first pull was 385hp 387tq. Sooo lean the tuner was worried it was reading right. After tuning it pulled 392hp/397tq on a heatsoaked run. Ls6 intake, tsp Lts midpipe, and ti mufflers. To my mistake we couldnt do a power pull(cooled down) because the belt began to squeal from what I found out on the way home was the balancer bolt loosened up and was walking out. 5hrs later to retorque the bolt its running strong in my c5. Absolutely no lack of torque, breaks my nt05s loose which has never happened. Pulls very strong and could be easily daily driven. Minor surging under 1500rpm but nothing too bad. We cut it at 6500 peaking at 5850.

Welcome to the forums.

Looks like a great start. Sending your heads (if they are 241's) in for AI's 219cc High Compression CNC package would really compliment that cam, in my opinion. If they are 243's, then AI's 232cc CNC program would do well. As would an MSD intake.

Let us know how it does at the track.

Yeah stock 806 heads, closest track is an 1/8mi but Ill probably make some runs down there. Hopefully goes better than my last time there. Snapped the rear in my v8 s10 I sold to buy the c5.

Default Sounds great!

I have a question though. First of all, the car sounds great and I mean absolutely no disrespect, I'm just curious... Is it possible that your combo might have made more power with a smaller cam (such as a V2) considering your combo?

The V2 will make slightly less power (2-5rwhp) across the entire power band.

That cam should have peaked much higher than 5850. Was that a typo?

That is what I was thinking too...5850 peak seems very low.

Funny (well, not really), but immediately following my dyno runs I threw a belt due to the balancer bolt walking out. Got an ARP and it's good to go. Enjoy!

No typo, peaked at 58-59 every run. Im really wondering if my injectors were maxing out. I asked about it but as soon as he was going to check the duty cycle the belt started squeling. I might see about running it again.

Peak does seam a bit early for these particular camshaft specs in your combination. Possibly installed off a tooth? If your injectors were nearing the limit your tuner should have been aware of it for sure.

I wouldnt be too concerned with the numbers if the car feels 400hp strong. Dynos are for tuning, dyno queens are for big numbers. Just curious of your tq number

My V3 cam has been good to me still after 5 years despite the fear of LSK lobes everyone goes on about. I have been using a high zinc oil which hopefully helps. It's bucks a bit but I have gotten used to it. After I put the 3.90 gears in it woke the cam up a bit everywhere. Just smoked a 2 valve mustang today with bolt-ons and 150 shot.

Torque was the same 375. i think maybe a larger injector or maybe a better tuner could help? i did 114mph in the 1/4 mi. it was my first time so my 60ft time was like 2.5. spun the tires in 1st.
