Default Are all gen 3&4 cranks the same?????

Are gen 3 and gen 4 5.3l cranks counterweighted differently??? Are 5.7l, 6.0l weighted differently for bigger Pistons ? Boggling the **** out of me. If I put l33 gen 4 rods and pistons in my gen 3 block and crank a lot of people say to get it balanced. So that would mean that gen 4 cranks are weighted differently for the heavier rods correct? Also are l33 cranks special made being they have flat tops not dished pistons? Trying to get answers. No one needs to reply with one is 24x and one is 58x I know that and that's not my ???

Counterweights are the same, they just have more or less holes drilled in them.

So than does a l33 crank have a different weighted crank compared to a standard 5.3 crank because of the flat top Pistons ?

I don't know. I've never weighed the pistons to see if they're different.

Yes, They are balanced specifically for their application.

The 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L cranks with the 1255216 casting number are all virtually the same other than the reluctor wheel and how they are balanced for their application. The LS1 5.7L is the Same as the 5.3L and 6.0L but has a 1 inch hole gun drilled through the center of all the mains.

FWIW, there are 2 or 3 different early pistons and the weights differ slightly between them.

I believe its 3 different versions and 2 different manufactures before going to the floating pin design.

I will have to look at What I have in the old parts pile...

Finally remembered to take pictures and post them. These are 2 of the 3 press pin 5.3 pistons. I don't have the revised press pin one with the coated skirts.

I believe The one on the left in the image is the first design. I believe 99-00. The second design is on the right. I believe 01-02. The third should have coated skirts and be 03-04. In 2005 they went to the floating pins with the stroger rods.
