Stated reason:

"We have made the decision to focus our efforts on our primary business of Commercial Marine and Rail."

I don't blame them. In comparison, I'd bet those are much more profitable industries. ERL a was a good company with a good product, but it's tough to make a decent profit in this business.

Steve at RED is the go to guy now IMO.

Agreed. There is a ridiculous amount of competent and incompetent competition in the market these days. Brand loyalty is all but dead in this world(as are many brands). The options are dizzying and the prices seem to drive lower every day. Feels geezerish for me to blame it on the Internet, but..well..yeah.

as someone that works in marine...i can see why they gtfo of automotive stuff.

the margins are good, the customers have been around long enough to know good value in workmanship and the rigors of marine use demand high quality.

if anyone reading this is looking for machine or fabrication work. go into marine work. as the world gets more interconnected and supply lines become global, marine will only grow larger.

good luck ERL

Marine, areospace, and rail have high expectations. No one cares if your car doesn't run or crashes, but the second a plane fails to take off or falls out of the sky...

I was always intrigued by ERL's work.

Any priced out a marine-grade SBC lately?

Maybe the LS market is sinking. Must have been afraid they wouldn't stay afloat. Maybe aluminum blocks aren't heavy enough to use as boat anchors.
