Default 5.3 with oil around intake ports

I pulled off my ls6 ntake to swap to a fast 90, and noticed i have some oil around each port, mostly the center four.. I dont have a catch can, as my valve covers just vent into the atmosphere, not back into the manifold.

Do I need to have a valve job done on my heads? Bottom end was pulled apart and new rings about 1k miles ago.

Run PCV if you can.

Stock PCV systems(no catch can) are very dirty/oily. Typically a couple of ounces in a truck manifold. If when you had the bottom end refreshed you did not wash out the intake, is it possible there was still oil in there from when it had PCV hooked up..and that's where the oil came from? Post a pic of this oil.

No pics as I wiped it off quickly. Probably an oz between all 8 ports. I had the whole bottom taken apart and hot tanked. Intake is an ls6 and was clean and dry before installing. Possibly from the rockers during deceleration?

Just to be clear, the oil was around the cathedral ports on the heads, where the intake gaskets sit.

If by rockers you mean valve cover gasket leaking there, I think that's possible. When the intake came off after, still dry in there? Where the intake ports themselves coated in oil?

No, valve covers arent leaking. There was no visible oil until I removed the intake. The oil was rings around the edge of each port on the cylinder heads.
