It was just a google search and it was NADA's site that showed the curb weight. My search was "2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 curb weight" http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2002/...s-Am-WS6/Specs

I have had two WS6's. The first one weighed 3535 bone stock from the factory. The one I have now weighs 3540, and it has 12 disk changer, and TC, and the TT2's that the first one didn't. They both were weighed with a full tank of gas also.

Took it out today for about 10 minutes.. noticed once it was warm the oil pressure would drop lower than expected.. normally 40 to 45 cruising but when getting into it a little it never really goes past that, I was expecting at least 60.. the only thing I didn't replace was the OPSU.. new retainer plate, o ring, Hubbard racing ported ls6 pump.. here is a quick video, going to probably need to check it with a mechanical gauge, but suspecting the pressure sensor.. but it was reading normal before the build.. I also did the oil barbell from sacc city corvette.. what you guys think? I'd think if it was an o-ring or something internal it would just be low all the time..

That pump should be doing more.

Pinched o-ring is possible. Maybe it's just minor.

Also, you need to remove some follower airflow. It's hanging on the return to idle.

If it increases with rpm and does not fluctuate under load then I would not worry about it.

Exactly. It looks 100% fine to me as it is gaining good pressure as RPM increases.

Run it!

RollinSScamaro, I cannot wait to see what your numbers are. Martin spec'd me a cam almost exactly like yours...230/234 .620/.603 112+2

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Jake good eye on the tune lol. Right now it is just a base tune, still need to drop it off and get final tuning completed.

I'm glad it doesn't sound like an issue, any thoughts on why it would be lower than stock? Now I'm regretting reusing my OPSU to save $50 lol.. it does have 128k on it, but budget was running thin.

QFLY I will be sure to post results as soon as possible. The dyno my tuner uses sounds like it's all over the place so I'll be sure to post track times also on this thread. I'm sure you will love that cam!

If you had the bottom end redone the bearing clearances could be a little bigger than stock so the oil pressure would drop some. My friend had a brand new 2014 camaro ss which had lower pressure than yours. Seems fine to me.

Never thought of that.. I'm glad it doesn't seem to be much of an issue, last thing i want to do it tear it back down lol.. I am going to have the shop throw a mechanical gauge on it when i get my alignment completed. I'm more just curious at this point to know if its accurate or not.. I appreciate all of the info!

I should have some dyno numbers tomorrow hopefully.. My tuner seems to think it should put down some good power based on what he is seeing during street tuning.

I'm still not a huge fan of my oil pressure.. i have noticed now that the warmer it gets the more it drops.. after a few hard runs it will stay around 25 psi @ idle and won't exceed 45-50 at WOT.. I know they put some performance bearings in my motor when they rebuilt it so i am curious if i shouldn't try bumping from 5w30 to 15w40 or something thicker.. It seems like a lot of aftermarket shortblocks from other companies recommend their customers run a thicker oil, i wonder if i need to do the same?

I know when the oil is colder it can get damn near to 60 psi at 2-3k rpm, so it may be an indicator that thicker oil would work better?

Yeah, depending on bearing clearance, you may need a thicker oil.

VR1 20W50 might be worth it.

If it's warm pressure you're worried about just go from a 5-30W to a 5-40W.

My 149K mile SBE C5 with 0w/30 AMSOIL Signature Series has 21-22 PSI
Hot idle 170*+ & 48-50 PSI @6200 RPM.
As long as you have 20+ @ Hot idle & 7PSI PER 1000 RPM, 45+ @ 6500
Consistent with no fluctuations you are good.

Perfect guys! Thanks for the reassurance. I may switch to the 5w40 as Martin mentioned on my oil change.. No fluctuations at all so i will let it ride and hopefully get some dyno numbers posted shortly.. Thanks again!

Results are in! This is on a Mustang dyno and the numbers definitely met my goals and i'm real pumped to get it to the track. The graph doesn't show the peak at 7k because of graph smoothing, but will be shifting at 6800 regardless.. Looks pretty good to me, but I'm not a pro at dyno graphs lol.. Let me know what you think!

Thanks to Martin for a killer cam spec, Cam motion for a high quality cam core, and AI for having some of the best ported 243s available. Highly doubt I'd be near my goal without all of the high quality products put into this build!
