Default Cam gurus, how would this cam work?

I have a sbe 346 in a 98 Camaro drag car. It currently has:

1-3/4" Kooks LTs with true duals dumped under seats
milled 241s
el torro 230/230 cam
LS6 intake and chris1313 ramair
underdrive pulley
glide with 5500 stall 8" converter
4.86 gear
275/60 radial

The pistons have been flycut .080.

I'm soon switching to fully ported 799 heads and fast intake. I'm not afraid to turn 7000+ rpm. May possibly throw a 100-150 shot at it, but it I'm NOT trying to set it up for NOS.

the car should weigh around 3100-3150 without driver

My question is how would this cam work with the new setup?

236/244, .618/.621, 110+3 lsa

What's everyone's opinions?

I think you should keep current cam and invest in AFR heads first. Or get a heads cam package from them. But yes that 236 cam will make power 4500 and up.

might be worth it to call Cam Motion and get a Low Lash Solid Roller
since elevated RPMs of drag car, little more stable specially if considering spray

i'm only asking how this specific cam would work with my proposed combo. I'm not "in the market" for a new cam, just thought this one was a good deal and might be worth some e.t./mph over my existing cam.

That and is you're going to spray you'll likely want the exhaust valve to open earlier than your current cam

I'm switching over to a turbo combination this fall so I don't want to put a lot more money in this setup, that's why i was interested in this cam that i mentioned, because it's for sale cheap. I'm not setting the car up for nitrous, I'm setting it up to run all it will run on motor in the 1/8th, then may spray a small shot on top of it, with the understanding that it will not be the optimal NOS setup.

I misread something. I was looking at the 230/230 thinking something else. Yeah, the 236/244 is going to run better all motor AND on spray. it's won't be a good turbo cam, but you are already considering new stuff for turbo anyway. You'll want to verify PTV on the 236/244 cam - especially the intake side. Mine is 237/245-112.5+2, and I had 0.080" clearance. That cam is on a 110 LSA and +3 advance, so you're going to be tighter than mine.

Daily driving will be rougher, but I get the feeling you're not too concerned with it.

Bingo. I will drive it down the road here and there but i drove my Iroc with the 572 on the road on a few occasions so I'm ok with it not having great street manners.

This whole setup will come out when I do the turbo, replaced by something 5.3 based.

Also, my pistons are flycut .080 so hopefully that will give me clearance. Guess I better measure just in case.

Thanks.

Doesn't look too bad at all. A nice step up over what you have now for your intended application.
