For the rotating assembly, no such thing as "too much" assembly lube. Where do you fear you used too little? Just as long as there is a good solid coating (as you put it) on the wear surfaces, you should be OK.

Too much is almost enough
#23
Just on the main journals/bearings. I was trying to be bit conservative as I wasn't sure how much I was going to need. Everything spun just fine, silent as a mouse, but I don't want to fire it up for the first time and have all of my bearings simultaneously fail lol.

Heads came in today!!
Pictures don't do these guys justice. Tony wasn't kidding when he called them "Aluminum Art"
Firstly, I have to point out just how high quality these are. You can definitely tell how much time Tony puts into each of these heads. Every machined edge, from the seat of the valve cover gasket, to the edges of the combustion chambers themselves have been beveled so you don't have to wear welding gloves just to handle them.
On top of that, the porting work is fantastic. You can definitely tell where your money went in these, and it is money well spent.
But enough talking, here are the pics! Just don't let your wife catch you looking at them

Remember that scene in American pie with Shannon Elizabeth and the kid kept creaming his shorts? Not gonna lie that was me when I got mine. They are phenomenal pieces

I really thought you were going to go with Tony's Sportsman 223 heads. I have 2 sets of 243's. I was planning on sending the better set to AI to have ported but then I saw the price and it is so close to the sportsman's I can't bring myself to send them off to get work done on them. I dread calling Tony, as I know if I call to get the 223, I will talk myself into the MMS 220s and blow my budget out the window. Awesome build OP, can't wait for results.

This is off-topic but..
I posted a thread over in the Stereo section, which gives one of the many reasons I was able to do a really optimized build like this. If you guys are into car audio and have the time, go check it out. (If you aren't into car audio... go look anyway!)
Badazz CTS-V build. From Fast to Loud!

Parts came in!
So.. having never seen a Fast 102, or a NW 102 in person... I was floored by how big these things are. I mean damn.
Gorgeous YT rockers...
Seriously, I couldn't stop laughing about how huge the throttle body is vs stock. I can fit my damn fist in this thing!
I completely forgot to take pictures of the port work done by Tony... though like always, it's amazing.
Following Darth's guide on Wipe Pattern and PR length, I put some check springs on and converted one of my old lifter's into a solid.
This is with a .100 shim
And this is a .14 shim. Was a little surprised at how high the number was, but I guess that's just what it wanted.
After a quick order with McMaster Carr, my shims came in and I started measuring PR length.
For your reading pleasure, here's a table of the lengths I got:
Int. Exh.
Cyl 1: 7.728 7.7265
Cyl 3: 7.740 7.7320
Cyl 5: 7.733 7.7165
Cyl 7: 7.733 7.718
Cyl 2: 7.737 7.728
Cyl 4: 7.740 7.725
Cyl 6: 7.731 7.715
Cyl 8: 7.728 7.718
Rods should be arriving Monday, after that the whole motor will be assembled, and it's just a matter of waiting for the headers to come in (figured I would bolt those on on the stand vs. trying to get them in with the motor in the car).

That's damn good work you did on that valvetrain. Those details are worth a ton in longevity and predictability.
