Default tsp 223 226 vs. tsp 224r cam

I have a 02 ws6 trans am 3.23 geared car. It has tsp 1 3/4 lt headers, 3 ory, slp lid, ported stock tb, slp dual dual catback and circle d 3200 278 mm converter. Im looking at the tsp 223 226 600 lift 113 and the tsp 224r 600 114 lsa cam. Which one of these cams would be the best for the street and strip with good drivability, easy to tune and still have a good little lope to it. This will be on stock unported 241 heads by the way.

Both would be very drivable and easy tune...with a good tune of course. The 223/226 113 cam will make a little more up top I'm sure

The 223/226 on 113 LSA has about -1.5 degrees of overlap.
The 224/224 on 114 LSA has about -4 degrees of overlap.

Either should idle and drive well as mentioned above with a good tune. The amount of overlap helps indicate how well various cams will idle in a given engine of the same size. Zero and less overlap idle very well with a good tune.

My 99TA has a custom 224/224 on 113 LSA per cam doctor, it spec'd ~ 224.8 / 224.8 on 112 LSA for 0 degrees overlap. In 18 years two people guessed the car had a cam from listening to it. It idles that close to stock with the old LS1 Edit tune.

Does that mean that the 223 226 will have more lope than the 224r 114 in the same engine? Which one would make better under the curve power and have better 1/4 drag strip times?

Yes it will have more lope because it has more overlap. Both cams will probably produce very similar track times, but all things equal the 226 might do a hair better at the track being on 113 lsa vs the 114 lsa on the 224 cam

The 223/226 camshaft gets my vote. Either will drive great with a proper tune, but performance and power wise the slight edge will go to the 223/226.

I would go with a split duration cam...honestly I would just get the TSP 224/228 112 .600 lift. +3 degrees overlap, it will pound and drive nice.
