Ls1 restoration help?
Brief description: new here, first post, not even sure if I'll get a response.
But I need HELP. I'm 17 years old attempting to restore an LS1 to put into my 2004 Infiniti G35, and after that, I have plans for the body, which I'm hopping to bring the final product to SEMA. My other project is a 1977 scirocco mk1.
But back to the point.
I have a LM7 5.3 3rd gen LS1 short block from around 2001-2003
I believe I have majority of the main engine, but I'm looking for a stock parts list. Like a diagram or parts list with every part and bolt in the entire engine. So I can make sure I have everything.
Can you guys help me find a link? Book? Etc
After I clean/resurface and disassemble the engine, I plan on rebuilding it and attempting 400-500hp
But as of right now, I just need to focus on getting it restored.

Lm7 5.3 is not ls1. ls1 is alum and 5.7l. 5.3 is cast iron and of course 5.3l. You can bore a 5.3l out to a 5.7 size but its still cast iron although cast iron is stronger.

Yeah, I wish people would stop referring to ALL LS engines as LS1's. As said, the LS1 was a 5.7L aluminum block put into Corvettes and Camaros from 1997 until 2004(Camaros until 2002, the last year of Gen4 Camaros). THAT'S IT.

Okay so if it's not Ls1 since it's a 5.3 iron block. Then what is it?
It was said to come out of a 2002 Tahoe, from my understanding is the reason it's iron. The aluminum ones were placed into cars.

An ls1 is 5.7 liters 350 cubic inches. it is aluminum.
A 5.3l from that truck is a cast iron 5.3l 325 cubic inch block. a 5.3 is a 5.3. you can also use its production code lm7. the production code for the 5.7 block is ls1. thats what makes them different.
They use the same stroke but the 5.3 block has a 3.780 bore size the 5.7 has a 3.898. that is what makes the cubic inch difference.

Ooh okay. So mine is a LM7, not LS1. And the only difference is the cubic inch, and iron instead of aluminum?

Similar power?
Okay well would I still be able to obtain similar power as an ls1? Am I able to use similar parts? And if so, what kind of parts? Or should I only buy lm7 parts?
And what if I bore it out to 5.7? But let's say I keep it 5.3, would that be more fuel efficient?

You cannot make as much power as an ls1 with the smaller bore, but you can make power. Making an iron 5.7 would make as much power as an ls1 could.

Boring the 5.3 to a 5.7 is all gain and no real drawback. All ls1 parts are interchangeable with 5.3s. They use the same rods and cranks and timing sets and bearings and oil pumps and valley covers anyway.

But with the smaller bore, would I have better fuel efficiency? Just not as much power? Let's say I keep the same 5.3 bore, what would I have to get in order to make about 500hp?

Trying for that power level the 5.3 would be no more fuel efficient than the 5.7. are you asking about crank horsepower or rear wheel? The 5.3 has dished pistons so the cr is significantly lower, youd need alot more cam to make more power. turbo or supercharger would be the quickest most fuel efficient way. Otherwise you are sacrificing hp for mpg.
The larger bore would be ALOT easier to make that goal with a smaller cam and still be ok on mpg.
