And bending stiffness if a function of the fourth power of OD and ID, not a squared power. The area will aid with compression stiffness, but this is likely not an issue since the weakest link is bending.

Yeah, area won't actually impact the stiffness at all in terms of psi. But it will improve the load required to make it bend Generally, in our internal low cycle fatigue testing of steel bars, we see at low levels of compression that the compression modulus is virtually identical to the tensile modulus, at least until the bar bends so significantly it's ridiculous. I'd post a video, but I'm not allowed to.

It's really cool you knew about the fourth power vs the second power. We've seen that even on concrete. The code calculations all use the square root of the compression strength, but empirically, we've seen it correlates better to fourth power. Although, good luck changing the codes, right?
