Default finding 11/32 pushrods

Im in the process of building a parts list for my rebuild. I have decided to go with a 11/32 OD pushrod. But now they seem difficult to find. anyone know where you can get them?

I looked at tick and just got done double checking, all I could find was 5/16 or 3/8.

I got mine directly from Trend because BTR was completely useless in brokering the purchase. If you use a Comp pushrod measuring tool give Trend that exact dimension plus your preload and they'll get them perfect - because they make the tool for Comp.

There was only a .002" variance in my set IIRC, and were works of art.

I got my Mantons through Mamo. Got me 7 different lengths to keep the preload within a couple thousandths.

Same here. Manton all the way. I hear Trend is also a great company, too.

11/32". I ordered several different sizes as there are sometimes variances between all 16 PR's for your target preload. If your running LS7 lifters you have a lot of room to work with. When you get into higher end Morals and link bar's, you'll want to get nail down your preload as best as you can. It really makes a difference.

One more thing, many people running the double taper 3/8" PR's as they're even stronger that the latter. A little more coin but again, it depends on your setup...

Honestly like i said in your other thread, you dont need them. You will likely see no gain, spen extra money, and wait longer, for no real reason. It may be somewhat justified with peace of mind, but there are tens of thousands of builds out there like anything you could do with heads and cams and the 5/16 are good enough for them. Even more aggressive builds still use them.

If you are set on them, Manton is the only place we use for those prs. They are great.

The most important part besides getting a correct measurement is making sure how their pushrod system works. Some companies use overall length and some subtract the part that rides in the pushrod cups or effective length. If you do not make sure you are on the same page, it doesnt matter what pr you get, it wont match up to what you expect. Thats the main reason you see such a variance in pushrods from companies.

^^very true. You need to tell them how you measured. I use caliper so I always tell them "as measured with digital calipers" when ordering

After jockying mult sets of prs back and forth to a few customers i try to let everyone that is custom measuring and ordering prs that piece of info. Other wise its a waste of time and money on shipping.

Default Manton Pushrods = TOP DRAWER

Hi ALL, I have worked with Terry Manton for years, he is local to (30 miles) my shop.
We worked on Ignition Systems for TFD comparing a CDI to the 44 AMP Mag.

His push rods are competition grade and best quality.

I too like the 11/32 due to a better fit.

I often NEED/REQUIRE longer push rods due to camshaft Base Circle diameter.

MOST HERE STATE an OEM Base Circle, BAD for the OEM lifter position when Lobe Lift is increased.
The lifter position needs to be the SAME at MAX LOBE LIFT (As EOM Designed) when the "trays" are fitted.

A strong (NO FLEX) push rod will add many RPM BEFORE Valve Float.

thanks for the info guys, after I get this thing back together and measure PR length I will give manton a call.

And thanks for the advice ws6store, I know that the 5/16 should serve my build just fine, but after my last lifter failure which probably wasnt the PR's fault, im looking for peace of mind while spendings thousands on getting it rebuilt I dont care to spend this little bit extra for overkill on PR's just so I wont be worrying over it lol

I agree with WS6store.

My first head/cam ls1 made over 500hp and I abused it for many thousands of miles.. 7200rpm shifts. Had the typical 5/16 hardened pushrods. No failures. And the absolute speed CNC 5.3 heads had heavy dual comp springs in them too.. not the smaller/lighter BTR type.

My current cam only ls1 is the same deal, but still stock heads with BTR springs, with 615' lift cam. 5/16 hardened. I have not had any issues. I spin it over 7000rpm.

I got the Manton 11/32" series 4 but series 3 would have been fine. The service was fantastic. The length accuracy was far better than listed on their site and the turn-around was quick.
