I am going to daily drive my car, and maybe go to the strip every now and then, so I really like the .2 to .5 lift numbers for these heads. I would really like to get a FAST 102 as well, but I don't think I will be able to afford both since I want to get roller rockers with the heads.

I also want to switch to flex fuel, mainly for the cleaner burning and higher octane rating, but 5% more HP is a bonus.

just dropped the heads off with my tuner and he’s shipping them out soon. I’m very happy with my choice when he showed me a few LS3 and LT4 stuff from FED. Should have mine back in 2 weeks or so!

The 224cc heads look more like the stage 2 version to me.

Other than AFR doesn't anyone make a intake runner smaller than 215cc's?

TFS As Cast. I believe they have a 205, 210, and 215.

I'm liking the Trick Flow® GenX® 215 Cylinder Heads for GM LS1. Excellent flow with a smaller runner.

If i go with an aftermarket casting it’ll be the TFS 220’s and have the chambers touched up by BTR. for now, FED stage 1’s is plenty for me

You have to run roller rockers with these heads? You can't used stock style rockers?
Damn that bites.

I hear ya. As long as the FED stage 1's are 216cc not 224cc's. If they are 224cc's i'll have a set of 243's mildly ported and call it a day. It sucks the TFS 215's need aftermarket rockers.

George Conroy I believe mentioned he's used stock rockers with those. Not 100% but I think so. I don't see why you couldn't

I don't the head matters, its the cam lift that matters. If your lift is over .600, then you should have roller rockers.... or that's what I have gathered from this site.

Have any of you guys considered having the combustion chamber smoothed out (softened)? From what I have read, it eliminates hot spots in the combustion chamber, reducing pre-detonation. I intend to stay NA, so I don't know if I would get any benefit or not.

I'm thinking about it as well. Let me talk with my tuner and see what he says. I think for an average h/c setup it might make a little difference, but if not I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Seems like it's for a big nitrous shot mostly. I think I'll pass on mine for now to save some $$

I talked to my tuner, and his input was "no NA benefit at all" for having the combustion chamber softened.

On a positive note, mini-tubs and roll over-the rear seat bars will be delivered tomorrow!

My reply never seemed to send. But why would he say that? Hell, ANY port work to a head (unless its a hack job) will net some type of gain. Impatiently waiting for my heads. Cam should be in today. As far as compression, their website says 0.010 for surfacing. Whats that put the CC? usually 0.065 per cc correct? so roughly 62ish CC?

Remember when comparing flow numbers, these numbers or from DIFFERENT machines. So it isn't a true apples to apples comparison. Just take the numbers with a grain of salt.

Of course! bore size, plate size, etc etc. I think regardless all CNC work from just about all companies are going to be within a few digits of HP. I could've went TEA which was my first choice but for a couple hundred cheaper I figured for my build I wouldn't be hurting with FED, once its all together. Any of these CNC companies are great options.

camshaft made it. Looks like FedEx slung it around pretty good and damaged the box. Lol inspection looks fine though. BTR Stage 2 LS3 cam, should be about 2 weeks for the heads. Thinking about .045 or .04 gasket. I think that will put me around 10.8-11.0 compression if my math is correct.

I meant no benefit to chamber softening.
