Default btr 400+ci nitrous cam versus custom????

Hey guys I have a 408 stoker I am building, I plan to later spray around 300 on it (when I can afford a good set up lol). Cr is kinda high in the 12.3-12:5 range on pump gas. My tuner says with the right cam and with me planning to run a stand alone it will be fine. The cam I am on the verge of ordering is the btr 400+ci nitrous cam. Do you guys feel this is a good fit for my build, or should I look into something else or a custom cam? I have heard nothing but great things about that cam, and when I contacted them that was also what they suggested. It seems like I don't need a custom cam in this case but I just wanted another opinion on it. Thanks in advance for the help

I run 10.7 with it on motor blowing through converter some at 3800+ race weight. Tried my old PTC converter on motor and smoked the tires at the line, let off and got back into it and ran 103 in the 1/8 compared to 100 with the yank. But was real inefficient on top end with that converter. The cam works good naturally aspirated and should really pick up on the juice. I have the Pas3400 in it now and been thinking real hard about hooking my kit up. Kinda got board with car and haven't done anything with it this year. Was testing the 200 shot on my cousins car last week so I kinda have the itch again so maybe I'll have more info for you.

I'll add that the yank 60 was 1.4 something and with the PTC the 60 was 1.8 and still pulled harder through the 1/8. So getting the combo set up right is most of the battle and frustration.

Should be a beastly cam.

It would be a great NA cam in an LS7 as a comparison. But the exhaust on the LS7 needs the crutch.

I would look at the whole combo and do the BTR prepped TFS 245s with the Nitrous Exhaust Port and that cam in the 408 and spray 300 at it. With a PY3400 or a custom PTC converter, it should run very hard. If you used the MSD intake or a carb-style single plane, it'd work better given the overlap.

That's what I like to hear. I plan to spend some time getting the trans, rear and suspension built and dialed in before going with the nitrous kit. I have a rpm level 6 70e that i was going to have a sonnax input drum installed and use but I am not sure if i should even bother with it and go to a th400.

I can't afford the heads yet haha. I haven't decided on the intake yet but I am thinking vic jr or super vic and a stinger plate. I am open to suggestions though. I am leaning toward the single plane and stinger plate because supposedly the distribution is better and a direct port is really expensive. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. This is my first build and I am excited but I want to get it right the first time. I know it might not sound like it, but I am on a budget haha. I just have to save a while and buy one thing at a time
