Default Got my 6.0 Together and Dyno'd 485hp/456tq!

Hey everyone.

I finally got my engine together and over at the shop (shortblock needed wok). After the short block was done we got the top end put on and threw it on the in-house dyno. This is not the final tune, I'll do that in the car, so we were using the generic shop tune. The 400tq at 3100 rpm makes me giggle! It will be in front of a 3600 stall and 3.73 gears.

6.0 LQ9 (.005 bore to clean up some cylinder damage)
LS6 intake
ported 243 heads
Hooker Blackheart Long tubes
226/230 EPS cam with .604/.604 lift

What do you all think? Based on some other similar builds, I feel like I missed out somewhere, came up a little short. Could be something as simple as the shop tune that was possibly less than optimal? Thoughts? Opinions?

I think those numbers sound like a great running engine!

That throttle body could be bottle necking your combo
TPIS can convert the snout of that intake to a 90mm four bolt and either sell you their billet TB or you could pick up a used LS2 style
Dorman also sells a revised LS2 intake which is internally as nice as yours but has the larger throat
My guess is the horse could jump just over 500 and show 430-440-ish rear wheel in the car which is quite a strong combination

I was originally going to go with a 700r4 that was built for a 406 build. This necessitated an early 98 style throttle body. Got a deal on a 4L60e but now can't afford a new throttle body lol

Tactful as a dump truck
Telling someone they have crap
The LS6 intake is actually a pretty decent piece but has its limitations
In the OPs case, a bigger entry would yield more power yet be half the cost of
A FAST and easier to tune. Of course the FAST can make the most power but sometimes drivability suffers. Jake has complained about his for years on his 346
I've seen factory LS3 intakes run better/less power but enhanced drivability on
A 417" stroker.
You know your **** and your combo is insane but that's not everybody's cup of tea

Big Hammer is Right! By the time you have a 4.00" Bore, Ported Heads,
and a 226* Intake Cam, You are starving your combo for air @~6000 RPM
With a LS6 Intake.
FAST 90/92 with a 90 MM TB will pick up Everywhere 3000+ RPM.
To be fair the only reference to "Crap" is directed at the "LS6 Intake"
for this Combination.

I noticed that your not running any accessories in that photo. You will lose a few ponies when you bolt them on (if you want them). I would have expected more as well..especially when those numbers don't include driveline loss.

By design, The General made the intake to peak at 6300 on a 346" engine
So a 370" will be starving past 6000
I'm thinking we're saying the same thing but since the LS6 intake does not respond to porting(proven plenty of times) this means that the runners are pretty good and it's true bottle neck is the snout and throttle body not the runner length and CSA
Will it make FAST 92/92 power......NOPE but the 90mm addition to the LS6 will bridge that gap and possibly fit the OPs pocket book a tad better for now..

I think I read somewhere the throats only 74mm. So it's not even the size of the throttle body

Correct, shop engine dyno, no accessories bolted up.

My goal is to show up with a helmet, having only ever run this car with the 305 at the track, make a pass, hopefully not bust my rear, and have them kick me off the track until I get a cage....I will be happy with that result.
