Default lq4 arp head bolts over torqued

Wondering if anyone else has done this, bought arp head bolts and used there ultra grease provided. I have never used arp stuff before and didnt realize the torques were different. I used the factory torque and then the 90* and 70* final pass..... ended up somewhere around 115 ft ibs and was then told they should be 75 ft ibs for the arp stuff. Will it hurt anything to just leave it and run it or do i need to put new gaskets on and retorque to the 75??

Default Torque Plate Hone

Hi Adam, I would tighten your bolts to the SAME Torque Value as was your block when it was honed.

My guess is that the HG is OK.

You may want to at least contact ARP and see if that much torque could have over stretched the bolts. If so, you could break them the next time they're torqued.

Well F*@#! First time I have heard this. So yup. I DID IT!. My **** is all at factory specs. I got my headbolts "Used" but never "used". They came with the box, but I didn't get any instructions, so I used ultralube or whatever that arp grease is, and followed factory specs. I had no idea, they would be different. My motor has been together for a little over a year. Planned on throwing boost at it here soon. NOW, I gotta wonder WTF to do.

For future reference, you can go on to arp-bolts.com and look up the instructions by entering the part number of your ARP fastener kit. Torque specs, what lube, and even tightening sequences can be found in the instructions.

Had this been an aluminum block, you would've pulled the threads long before you'd hit 115.

The only head (and main) bolts that get torqued (or TTY) the same as stock bolts are stock bolts.

Anytime you move to an aftermarket fastener, the maker's values need to be followed.

I doubt you damaged or stretched the bolts, they're 200,000 PSI rated. I would inspect the bolt landing faces on the heads, some of them are hollow underneath where there are coolant passages.

If all is well, purchase new head gaskets. As much over torqued you say you went, they're shot.
