When searching, you see a lot of milled heads, want more Compression etc. 2000 ls1 putting unmilled 799s on. I dont want a thinner gasket to increase compression, because i wanna reuse my 7.4 rods and dont wanna worry about ptv even tho i know ill be fine with my .605 cam. I want an MLS gasket. Do i just need any gasket that when torqued down is .051 and with a 3.91 bore? It dont matter weather i get gaskets for the notch or no notch heads right? Basically want a stock replacement GM gasket.
If you're talking about the early LS1 heads (perimeter bolt valve cover) that have the notch, you have to have the specific gaskets for those heads, ask me how I know.
Get a stock mls gasket.

The pistons on your motor should come out of the hole on average around .007
With a .051 gasket and piston sticking up roughly .007 out of the hole, you get a .044 quench..... perfect!
