My strip/street car is more frequently than not a max effort ride and pretty fun on the street too.
You can 100% have your cake and eat it too, just put a plan together and execute. Don't under estimate the converter, it's a big piece of the puzzle

Sweet spot for LS1 is a 226-228 intake and 232-234 exhaust on a 114 or so. Will drive like stock, have a good idle, and make power throughout the rev range and not fall off a cliff at 6k.
And would make 400rwhp.
Anything above that, and it's very diminishing returns. Anything below that and you fall off in power pretty fast. So in short, something like a 226/234 114 is probably the max size cam I'd do in a streetable LS.

Nice thread! I am putting a LS1 with a 4L80e in a '68 Camaro, identical to yours! I also got a cam to do, i am thinking of a Torquer V4 TSP cam. 231/234.629/.615 111. What do you all think about this one? I am almost identical to Pompeloen. I got ls7 lifters, Yella terra rockers, BTR .660 spring kit, Melling oil pump etc.

Old dynojet with a heavy roller, 95F, maybe around 1100 feet above sea level. Smoothing: 0, tires so bad they were floating on the roller. Humidity wasnt bad, dont remember the number. I believe those numbers is for the power it made in THAT weather. No dyno tweaking nonsense. NicD told me they like their heavy dyno because it doesnt inflate numbers its just a no BS roller. They let off early due to vibrations at 150ish mph. Got to be those tires. Its just a tuning device. I was told for what it was, it made good power. Idk, it pulls hard and feels good.

Is your car manual or automatic? Eithier way this simple and easy combo will get you there. More power wouldve been made with a MORE DIALED IN CAM.

NicD is far and away the best tuner in the phoenix area. Keith's dyno is notoriously "stingy" (in other words, honest), and if you get the power on Keith's dyno, you will absolutely get it at the track.

Ya I may need shift points adjusted due to a gear change so ill see if they will squeeze me in for a quick dyno run again. Mickey T S/S radials should hold up better. See if I can get a more stable run, not that the peak number will mean much since its 20+ degrees cooler. But hey, Just for laughs.

And would make 400rwhp.
Anything above that, and it's very diminishing returns. Anything below that and you fall off in power pretty fast. So in short, something like a 226/234 114 is probably the max size cam I'd do in a streetable LS.
