Default 93 S10 with a LS1 Twin Turbo

I have a 93 S10 with a V6 5 Speed. Was wanting to put a LS1 383 Twin turbo in it. I was told to find a Aluminum LS1 block out of a 88 to 92 Firebird or Camaro. But i cant find any Aluminum blocks only Iron. Other than Aluminum being lighter is it really better than going Iron.

I hope that was typos. Ls1 was 98-02. 88-92 was SBC which were all iron.

For twin turbo, iron would be better but you will find that is either a 5.3 or a 4.8 out of a truck. The 98-02 camaro v8 were all aluminum 5.7s

Yup! Bore it out and use the 5.7 rotating assembly. But most 5.3 are iron. Just being clear. The 5.7 were all aluminum.

Might be cheaper to get a 6.0. They were iron, 4” bore. Great boost motor

Aren't L33's aluminum 5.3?

I wouldn't get hung up on 5.7 vs. 5.3. Most would want the slightly thicker cylinder walls for more boost. Besides, 5.3Ss are proven themselves with boost.

Zero reason to get a truck motor unless a) you get 1 that is cheap from a junkyard or b) you want over 700hp. Just pick whatever is the best deal. Don't bother boring it out or anything. Boost is the great equalizer. You want more power, turn up the boost. Don't over complicate it.

YEP, you can even use the el-cheapo 4.8 and just roll on the boost!
