Can be done with bolt ons or a cam and supporting mods...depends how deep you wanna venture into the 11s and how much money your willing to part with. 6 speed, ditch the factory heavy clutch, depending on the year of LS1 it may have LS6 intake which would be fine for mid to high 11s..if your plagued with a LS1 intake look at some of the after market intake..dorman LS2 or fast etc.. Headers/exhaust and some minor weight reduction and seat time should get you close, traction and gear is a must.

6 speed im not looking to go deep in the 11s high 11s would be fine for me i have about 6k for a car right now might have to save another month most cars in my area for a decnt one at least are 7k+ as far as mod money i should be able to come up with another 6k for mods over the summer more if i get over time im looking to keep the cars interior stock so i probably wont be able to cut much weight how far would 6k take me on an ls?

headers and exhaust $800
some kinda clutch..skys the limit but $700-1400 should get you something nice
youll have to come to terms with the 10bolt being junk and likely to blow up..but its worth it to rear gear it once...$400 to do it your self or prob $800 for a pro install(price may vary)
Intake..dorman LS2 and a ebay 90mm TB prob run $500
Dyno tune $2-300 or try a Frost mail order tune
Wheels and tires..cheap drag wheels and some slicks should offer some afordable traction
If theres money left over you can take the easy way out and put a mild off the shelf cam and will need to be tuned accordingly.
If you plan on keeping the car and hitting the track often id just spend the money on a 12bolt or 9" and spend the rest on intake/exhaust/tune and a better clutch.

There are a lot of F body cars with H/C/I and big rear ends that people ask 15k for and end up having to take closer to 10. It's happened to several of my friends.

Truly the cheapest way to get there is nitrous and a sticky tire. Only problem is the stock 10 bolt won't like this...especially on a M6. With that said I'd shop for a nice used S60 or 9" (would not totally rule out a 12 bolt either for the right price) do a few bolt ons, 100 shot and sticky tire. Now youre talking mid 11's rather easily.

Last weekend I whent 11.62 @118. 1.59 60ft. SBE 5.7- 243 heads- 224 cam -fast 90 -yank 3600 -long tubes -410 gears. I feel confident it can be achieved with less, but that's my current setup.

But the rear end can last a long time as long as you don’t plan to race it from a dig alot or do alot of burn outs. But yes I would say a rear end wl need to be done soon down the road but not right up front.
