Thanks for the info Summitracing, you've been very helpful, the 8708 fits what I'm looking for.
I'll get a converter company to spec whats needed, I was figuring 35-4000 stall range.

There was an interesting thread going on one of the FB LS User Groups. A customer bought our Pro LS Stg. 2 Turbo cams and few folks were wondering how we can sell the cams at the price we do starting with 5150 billet (rather than inferior 1050). Well it just so happens that the customer is a metals tech at an engineering office that conducts destructive and non-destructive testing. He received the cam, took it into work and shot it with the PMI (Positive Material Identification) gun. Sure enough, 5150 carbon chromium steel. Not only that, he remarked that it is clean enough for aircraft use. If anyone is curious how it measured: C% 0.50, Mn% 0.81, P% 0.038, S% 0.040, Si% 0.25, and Cr% 0.78.

I’ve got a lm7 5.3 in a 2006 Silverado. I’m trying to decide which cam would be the better option between the TFS-30602001 and the SUM-8701. I’m going to be running ls7 lifters, ls6 valve springs and truck flow stock length pushrods. Don’t want to change the torque converter.

In this case, the TFS-30602001 would be slightly better due to a one degree earlier intake closing and the added lift. That will run well with a factory converter. You are at the very limit of LS6 springs though on lift and it would be better to go with a set of TFS-16918-16 springs.

Very interested in the stage 2, SUM-8706. The price alone is very tempting! Lol
My car was tuned with a stock ls1 with a rear mounted t76. Now ive put the turbo up front and am thinking of putting together a bit more turbo friendly components in the LS1.
Do you think the Stage 2 turbo cam would be a nice match with the stock ls1 long block, 317 heads with pac1218 springs, ls6 intake manifold, gt45 turbo with 10lbs of boost, built 4L65E with 3800 stall, stock 10bolt with 2.73 gears? (Supported fuel system with racetronic 255 pump, c5 regulator/fuel filter converstion, and 60lbs injectors)

Yes, the Stage 2 will be a great match! Agreed you're going to need more fuel.

That's just gorgeous if we don't say so ourselves. Nice work.

Out your new line up what do you recommend for a carb’d 5.3 with some nitrous,
i was looking at the 8704 from the single plane lineup. Though it doesn’t mention anything about nitrous.

Mexico mostly. Some track events maybe.
gbody cutlass. Mostly gutted.
stall will depend on the cam I get.
it has a th350 and 3:73 now
i was going to do a basic turbo build like everyone else but I’ve had other turbo and supercharged cars. I kinda wanna try nitrous for a first.

SUM-8704 (227/239 108 +0 .551 lift) is a good choice for that gear and a 3500 converter. If you don't mind a 3800/4000 converter, another good option going off the valve events is SUM-8708 (231/242 113 +3 .600/.600). Intake closing on that is 4 degrees later (46 abdc rather than 42) on the SUM-8704 so it will turn some more rpm at the expense of low and mid-range.

Even with this being a carb’d single plane engine?

Yes, the earlier intake closing (from narrow lobe separation) on the single plane cams pumps up low end torque to offset the short runner intake. If you're going to be spinning this harder with gear and converter, the 46 degree intake closing of the "Fuel Injected" cam is not an issue and will move the powerband up..

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-8706/

wanted to purchase this cam but am on the fence
i have a 2003 LM4 and from my research i have the trigger wheel on the cam
i noticed one comment saying there is no trigger on the cam
can you confirm this cam does have the trigger 1x on the cam?

Slightly off topic but
how do the other LS based motors that are 24x crank and 1x cam work if it is not on the cam itself?
because the sensor is still on the back of the block
