Calling all cam gurus PTV
Before you ask, yes Ive used the search function. Yes Ive done research.
im building an lq9 with unmilled 823 heads and an ls3 head gasket. I called Texas speed and they sent me their stage two ls3 cam with the following specs :
25-TSP229244-112-3B - Texas Speed & Performance Camshaft: 229/244, .629/.615, 112 LSA, 109 ICL,
Texas speed insisted that this cam will have no issues with ptv clearance in my build, so I ordered it. After dropping off my block and bits to be cleaned at the machine shop they claimed that I will probably have to run a piston with valve reliefs. They recommended the pistons from an ly6, I am currently sticking with my flat tops.
i was wondering if anyone can chime in on This. Before you say check the ptv please understand that if I install the cam then Ill be stuck with it and I dont want to pay for another new set of pistons and the shop to press them on.
thanks !
